    Is A .31 Worthless?

I have an 1849 Colt in .31. Has 6" barrel. Says made in Italy but I don't know by whom. I would post a picture but don't know how.

    Traditions Deerhunter Trigger Spring

I got it for $100 at a local gun shop about two years ago. My son hit the bulls eye from 130 yards one time. He quit shooting and said he would live with that one. :-)

    Traditions Deerhunter Trigger Spring

Thanks. That drawing is exactly what I needed. I feel stupid now. I put the gun back together without the spring and it worked fine. It turns out it was the ramrod retaining spring. Thanks again.

    Traditions Deerhunter Trigger Spring

Help. I took my Deerhunter caplock .50 cal apart to clean it. When I took the screw out that holds the trigger, the spring fell out and I can't get it back together correctly. Can anyone tell me where to find a drawing for this rifle? I have searched this site and the web to no avail. Thanks

    Goex powder in NC?

Great Outdoors in Cherryville. North on 321 from Gastonia. I bought KIK there for $12 last year. I don't know the price now but I bet it's alot better than $22.

    Lead from dental x-ray backing

The stuff I got from my dentist neighbor, just a few months ago, was pure manure. It was definitely not pure lead and was very dirty. I could not seat it in my revolver because it was to hard. I guess it depends on the source.

    1851 Navy .44 vs 1860 Army

I had both. The cylinders are interchangeable in 44 caliber if both are made by Pietta. I've done it more than once. I sold the 51 in 44 when I found out it was not a true replica but an invention by Pietta. Colt never made the 1851 in 44, only 36.

    Looking for lead source

The dental lead I got was very dirty and way to hard for my revolvers to load. Check Wal-Mart fishing dept. I just bought 16 lbs of fishing weights that were on clearance for $1.00 /lb. Tried them out. They were excellent. Very clean and soft.

    Love thy dentist

I have a dental office as my neighbor. The dentist gave me about 20 lbs of lead. Man was that stuff nasty. It took me a good while to get all the manure out of it. It will shoot fine in a rifle since you're using a patch but it doesn't work well in a revolver. It has tin and antimony in it...

Uberti 1858 Remington - Army vs Navy

Plink: I don't understand this comment "It's also the correct caliber for the 1858 if that matters to you." I agree that the 36 that Pietta is selling now is not a true replica. It is built on the 44 frame. But Remington did make an 1858 in 36 caliber. It was called the New Army Police...

    blackpowder revolver

Blizzard: Beg to differ. NC does not allow hunting with BP revolvers but does allow carrying a "coup" pistol as long as it is only .22 caliber. I had this explained to me by a game warden as he was writing me a ticket. I was target shooting in the game lands during off season. Stupid me, I...

    1858 Remington, 36 or 44

Zonie: The New Model Police Revolver in 1865 must have been the one I saw. The owner of the shop sold it for $1200.00. I wish someone made a replica of it. It was a nice piece.

    1858 Remington, 36 or 44

I have the 36 Remington. It is not a true replica. It is built on the 44 frame. I saw a real 36 Remington recently and it is much smaller than what Pietta sells and with a 5 shot cylinder.

    Lead

RC: I don't know why you would say this. It is true ww is to hard for revolvers since they need to shave some lead to get a goood seat in the chamber but the rifle uses a patch. The lead doesn't touch the barrel. I've been using ww in my rifles for years with no ill effects. They do cast a...

    chain firing

I use a mixture of beeswax and Murphy's Oil. It doesn't melt. I had a chainfire once when I forgot to lube the balls. Three cylinders went off at once. At 25 yds I put two holes in the paper with that chain fire. I kid you not. Doesn't happen often, but in two years I've had it happen four...

Lube Over Balls in a Revolver

I would guess they didn't use anything. If they were in combat, a chainfire would be the least of their problems.

    Tummbling round balls

I cast mine and tumble them in a 5 lb coffee can. Makes a lot of noise but rounds off the spur and makes them look a lot cleaner.

Lube Over Balls in a Revolver

Wonder wads are expensive. I use a mixture of beeswax and Murphy's Oil. It does not melt in hot weather. You can buy the beeswax at any craft store. Murphy's Oil at Wal-Mart.

    Dental X-ray Lead

Let me clear up the confusion my post may have caused. When I said ".454 for my Colt", I meant a .454 round ball for my 1860 Army Colt blackpowder revolver. Sorry for not being more specific.
