Experiments in homemade percussion caps for pistols

5 out of 6 fired. On the one that didn't fire, It seemed like some of the priming compound came out. I upped the ratio of Duco Cement to acetone, hopefully that will cause it to stick in the cap better.

Experiments in homemade percussion caps for pistols

I just got some SlixShot nipples to replace my Treso nipples on one gun. The SlixShot are longer, no doubt. I got 50% ignition with the first version of caps I made. Primed up the double thickness ones today, and did the Duco cement in acetone thing. I'll report back how it goes after they dry.

I suppose that is possible. I have no experience with them one way or the other right now.

I didn't let this get me down, and after a brief google search found my way...

    anyone have a .50 smootbore?

I have one! I bought it from a fellow I work with recently. It is based on a flintlock trade gun style. Iron mounted, browned metal, large trigger guard, serpent side plate, etc. I have not got it out to the range yet, but I hope to soon. I am planning to give it to my son, should he happen...

Good place to look for Used smoothbore flintlocks

Hey! I am a new member here, and I am looking for some good place to find a used flintlock smooth bore. I am getting into F&IW reenacting, and starting to price gear. My unit allows 2nd Model Brown Bess's, but I would be fine with a fowler too. I've already seen TOTW and Clay Smith's site...
