    Period correct recoil pad

Just wondering if there's any such thing. I have a .62 caliber TVM Fowler shooting 80 grains fffg and after 8 or 10 shots that metal butt plates hurting me pretty bad. LOL

    Tree mounted prop

Thanks all! I've talked to someone that recommended a wood block. Drill a hole in it,run a rope or heavy cord long enough for the tree circumference and wrap it tight around the tree. Just play with it a little until you get it the right height.

    Tree mounted prop

That's probably what I need to do . Keep raising it until my back is straight.

    Tree mounted prop

Hmmm, stepladder might be the easiest. It just seams I tend to hunch down when shooting off a bench and my head is held up more when standing.

    Tree mounted prop

From what I've read,it's hard to get the same sight picture shooting from a bench that you get standing up. Just wondering if anyone has made some type of prop that could be mounted to a tree so you could be standing when sighting in. Of course you could just hold it against the tree but I would...

    Screws for Jeff Tanner mold

Got a Tanner mold on order and was planning on using some Lee handles from some molds I have. However,I noticed they are held by some sort of pin and not screws. After reading I found I need the large Lee handles. Got those ordered and was wondering what screws I need to get to attach them ...

    Tarp colour and finish

I bought some actual Iron Oxide on Amazon to color mine. Made a small ground cloth for hunting with 50/50 linseed oil and mineral spirits and maybe a cup and a half of the oxide. Repels water great. took a couple of months to dry and about doubled the weight. Also made a tarp from a cotton bed...

    new traditions 32cal.

Walkingeagle is right. I've had one four about four years and when it came I notice the hammer doesn't line up perfectly. However, from the start I've been using real blackpowder and Wichester magnum caps and very rarely a misfire. If I use standard caps and real BP,I have an occasional misfire...

    Lubing chewed balls

I might be able to give it a try this weekend. After reading about the HC method of loading bare ball on another board, I've just been putting ball on top of powder then some Spainish Moss to hold it in place. The best results of any combination yet. But then, I'm not that great of a shot .HeeHee

    Lubing chewed balls

Thought about trying it just to make cleaning easier(pretty nasty) but I wonder if all that fouling contributes to the accuracy.

    Lubing chewed balls

I've been getting in to bareball shooting the last few months and actually doing better with that than PRB. After rasping,,the ball just touches the barrel on the way down. I can shoot all afternoon and never have to swabb. My question is, would there be any additional benefit from lubing the...

    Buying a smoothbore-TVM?

No prob. Might be the wrong description but for me it means not barrel heavy.I've held some guns with shorter barrels that felt like a struggle to keep the barrel up. It really surprised me that this gun with a 42 inch barrel didn't feel like that at all.

What do people carry in a Belt Bag?

Thanks all. I kind of like the idea of keeping gun maintenance tools and so forth in there. All good suggestions.

What do people carry in a Belt Bag?

    Ah,now there's my answer!

What do people carry in a Belt Bag?

Actually I did use it earlier this morning squirrel hunting and put wasp nest and Spainish moss wadding for my Fowler in it. I've seen some people use a belt bag instead of a shooting bag and some have both.

What do people carry in a Belt Bag?

Ok,I know every thing we carry in our shooting/possible bag pretty much pertains to shooting. Haversack usually flint and still kit, food, moccasin grease, sewing kit etc. Just wondering what everyone carry's in their belt bag? Just got one and use it for my lead balls on a woods walk loose just...

    Buying a smoothbore-TVM?

I have a TVM Fowler and it weighs about seven pounds. It balances perfect and is a lot more accurate that I am. Had it almost a year but still have a way to go before getting consistently accurate shooting lead ball with it. But that's all me and not the gun. However,I've had a blast squirrel...

    Rear sight placement?

Thanks all! I just didn't know if a shorter scale between front and rear sight might be more sensitive to side to side natural body movement but looks like it makes no difference. I have a friend that can dovetail it in when I get ready to have it mounted.
