    Buckeye Carbine

Found this in a gun shop today, very good price, so I couldn’t leave it there. 1st one I’ve seen. That 20” barrel is really short, I’ll need a block under it to load! A few dents and dings, nothing major, and bore is very good. Serial is around 490.

    T/C Hawken

Bought a Hawken off armslist yesterday. It belonged to the sellers father in law who had passed. Came with 50 and 45 barrels. Nice little inlay on both sides. It was well done. It’s been shot a good bit, but not abused.

    Carson Smoothbore

Found this in a small gun shop last week, and wonder if anyone knows when or who made it. It’s marked “Carson 00015 20 GA”. 42” octagon to round browned barrel, flintlock. Small rear sight with a bead front. Haven’t pulled the barrel yet to check for any other markings. The lock sparks very...

Does anyone know if the 50 caliber New Englander uses the same stock as the 54 caliber?

    CVA Hawken

In a pawn shop today and saw a CVA Hawken rifle, caplock, but it looked a little different than the one I had years ago. This was a half-stock 50 caliber, with what looked like a pewter endcap, and the wedgeplates also, I think. The barrel was held by two wedges, not just one. Overall decent...

    Percussion Rifle

Bought an old percussion rifle yesterday off a guy whose dad had died and left him several guns. Got it apart right now to clean it up a bit, and can't find many markings on it. The lock is a silver color with "H. Elwell" and "Warranted" surrounded by a circle, and has a pheasant and a couple...

    Hy-Hunter Zouave

I have a chance to pick up a Hy-Hunter Zouave, but can't find much info on them. I know they are an early import, but just how good are they? Up to the quality of a Navy Arms? If anyone owns one of these let me know how well you like it. Thanks!

    CVA Bobcat

If anyone is interested, there are three auctions on gunbroker right now. All reasonably priced. one two three These don't have anything to do with me, I've just seen a lot of people talk about them getting hard to find, so if someone wants one you can still find them.

    Good Advice

Just wanted to say there's a lot of good advive on this board. Was having a lot of problems with my Miroku Kentucky misfiring and slow ignition. Drilled out the vent to 5/64 and deepened the pan a little, happy to say that no more misfires and sped up ignition a good bit. Works very well now...

Here's a couple of pics of my rifles; nothing fancy or custom, but they're all fun to shoot.

    Doghouse

Boy oh boy, I'm in the doghouse now! Came home from the Columbus gun show with a Traditions Crockett .32. Looks brand new, guy says he only fired it a few times, had a .36 he liked better. Gave 180.00 for it, all I had in my wallet. Stopped and got 3 boxes of balls for it on the way home. Gotta...

    Navy Arms

Look what I found in a pawnshop today! Marked Navy Arms, barrel is marked Antonio Zoli Italy. Missing front swivel, front sight is a cut-up dime, and has a ball stuck in the barrel. Other than that is in good shape. Any ideas as to what model, etc this is would be appreciated. Short little...

    Traditions .32 Crockett

Was in Gander Mountain couple of days ago, and they had a traditions 32 cal Crockett. Wood stock with brass hardware, aluminum rod. Fit and finish looked decent, price was 300.00. I've been looking for a .36 but haven't found one yet that I can afford. How is the Crockett? I've never owned a...
