On the bottom of the frame it says Italy and the makers mark that has EIG inside an inner circle and outer circle and broken cross hairs. If I know how to post pics I would but also...

    Old 36 Navy( repro) ?

Wondering if any one else has a 36 Navy like mine. I bought it around 1962-63 at a swap meet in So. Cal. It is marked on top of the barrel "EIG NAVY" and the parts all have 33 stamped on them. There are proof marks in a couple places too. it is in good condition but with some "stupid" marks that...

    Carrying a percussion pistol

It sounds like we are saying the same thing..a 45 colt's hammer was resting on a live round like the Winchester 73, if you carried it with a round chambered. Then and now are a long way apart. I would carry it loaded and ready to fire then, but now I don't carry with one in the chamber and I do...

    Carrying a percussion pistol

Having the cap on the nipple and ready to fire would have been the only step taken by a person in the wilderness with more dangerous situations facing "him" than we could believe. An accident with the gun being dropped and striking the hammer, discharging it, would be a risk few would give up...

    Traditions Tennesee Rifle

I wanted to say that way back in the 70's my daughters had a heck of a time shooting my 45 CVA Kentucky so I cut it down to 24 1/4 in. I re-finished it a few months ago and shot it 5 or 6 times since. After all these years I was amazed at it's accuracy. It is easy to shoot and the balance is...

    round ball weighing

sorry, I was remembering way back to my only deer hunt. Two of us split up and I spotted a buck and wondered if it was too far away...it was. the empty 22 boxes were always at the range we used, in the trash can so at the end of the day we put some out on the 100 yard line and shoot em up. :off

    round ball weighing

Thanks to all of you. I have not pulled a trigger on anything alive since the 60's. I did some hunting early on and was able to enjoy some "baked" in the ground squirrel and 1 time at a deer with my 45cal CVA Kentucky...I saw the round hit around 75 yards short. If able to do so again, I would...

    Hello from Arizona

New member today and hello to all. I've wet a few patches in my time and even pulled a couple of ball...powder/patch/ball. Twice if my memory serves me right! I just started back up again last year after a very long time with out a puff of smoke. I've been shooting BP since the early 60's but...
