    45 flintlock for squirrel

    I use 30 grain 3f loads in my 45 cal flinter for squirrels.If you want a lighter load .395 ball a denim patch.

    Rotometal sells a Bismuth/tin sub thats almost the same weight as lead but $15 a pound,I live in Libafornia and you have three options Ignore them,shoot a copper sabot or cast a sub.Now Its cheaper to buy Bismuth and tin on ebay bulk 60/40 ratio and cast a legal round.I am going that route this...

    Lyman Zouve

    I traded a CVA 45cal Squirrel rifle kit to a friend for a Lyman Zouve rifle that I found for him,he decided not to shoot a 58 cal rifle at Mountian man shoots,Bore was pretty dirty.Cleaned up well.

    I shoot a 32 cal flinter 20 grains great on Squirrels but fowls the bore quickly,a 36 is better.

    Shot Question for California Smoothbore Shooters

    I shoot steel BBS in my musket,felt wad plastic cup,a paper premade glued tube of shot then a over shot card.60 grains 2f equal shot Squirrel loads 25yrds/80 grains 2f equal shot/Rabbit or Turkey load 30 yrds.

    Great Start,my 50cal Blue Ridge flintlock shoot 30 grains 3f.490 ball dead on at 20 yrds Squirrel load,and 60 grains 3f dead on at 50 yrds.I would clean between shots from a bench and up to 60 grains start at 50 yrds before filing anything.
