    Kibler Rear Sight

One thing I found necessary was a higher sight set just to fit my cheek weld. My 45 SMR just pounded my cheek bone. Just a smidgen higher solved that problem. I suppose I supposed I could have lowered the comb height too.

Are Some BP Revolvers Just Not Reasonably Accurate?

Sure wish someone made a slip on band or clamp on like this! I have an 1861 and 1866 that both need front sight offsets of 0.05/06. Weird that both are the same. I’m beginning to wonder if that was intentional for some reason (like bullet drift).

A rifle that needs swabbed after every shot on a woodswalk??

I tried loading and seating the ball, but swabbed after loading. While it worked, I ended up tearing patches while seating into the “crud ring”. The ball would push right thru the patch.

A rifle that needs swabbed after every shot on a woodswalk??

With all that wet slop on the powder charge, what does it do to the accuracy? I would think a small portion of the main charge is contaminated. I have often wondered using this method but first inserting a lubed backer patch and then the wet patch.

What's the consensus on Kibler rifles Steel finish?

Of a many, many flintlocks I’ve seen for sale at TOW by major builders, the vast majority are browned. These were older builds where I surmise browning was used to replicate how the metal parts would look after aging decades. Nowadays I view metal staining/etching as an easier method. But it...

    Kibler side effect?

Most of these companies in the muzzleloading/accessories business are owned by older folks, who started these businesses decades ago. I seriously doubt they are willing to invest heavily to expand their businesses at that stage in life.

    finished my SMR

70 grains or 2F or 55 grains of 3f will push the ball at 1800 fps. These are standard loads all over the internet. I use 55 grains of 3f swiss in my 45.

weight of trigger pull on a Kibler Woodsrunner

You correct that that trigger has to be pulled with the hammer being pulled back. Depending on the manufacturer of the set mechanism the front trigger can be pulled back while pulling the hammer back. However, setting the trigger causes an audible click - at least on mine. Where I hunt deer are...

weight of trigger pull on a Kibler Woodsrunner

For hunting I dislike a set trigger. That deer standing there will hear the load click of the set!

Panther Primitive Tents is going out of business Need recommendation

Yes but a younger man, possibly a relative was trying to take over. I was in the shop in Nebraska but that was 10 years ago.

    DAISY PATCHES FROM OCTOBER COUNTRY

I’ve used them exclusively. Mostly because of the Bear Grease Lube. I prefer tight patching but to my dismay October country can not supply 0.020 thickness right now. Their supply of 0.020 material is not available, according to the company and they have not found a suitable replacement. So...

WITHDRAWN RODGERS & SPENCER UNFIRED EUROARMS REDUCED AGAIN

I don’t know about the rest of you that own these, but mine was nearly impossible to full cock. It took two hands. I got rid of it for that reason.

Ram rod wont go all the in....im stumped!

As another post, make certain the rear barrel tenon in not protruding into the Ram road channel. That’s part of the procedure of finishing the Kit.

    Ruger old army loads

0.457 balls are correct size. The Ruger cylinders are tapered slightly at the mouth. So the balls are SWAGED into the cylinder. There should not be any lead shaving. Maybe a little but mostly none. This is the way it is supposed to be and even the original Colt 1860’s were set up this way. The...

    Uberti 1860 Army front sight

I used a small jewelers file and widened the notch in the hammer. The front sight has to be 0.21” high from the barrel. Then front sight level with the top of the notch. The front sight groove is a dovetail. Sight is meant to be tapped in forward to aft.

TC barrel windage out by 20 MOA

Are you shooting roundballs? If so correcting that muzzle damage may not help. Round balls aren’t effected like slugs. However a maxi ball would be effected. But 10 inches is huge. I had a green mountain barrel that did this and it had quite a bit of runout.

Kibler round faced lock drill/tap size?

Check your bolt thread size first. Take your time threading. It’s a gripe to remove a broken tap.
