    Young turkeys killed in the fall are better than any from a store. Blue grouse are mighty fine cooked up in elk camp with mashed potatoes gravy and biscuits.

    Yes I am sure they did. We had no refrigeration and they let it sit out for some time. You are right, it was much much better than what is available in stores today. I DO NOT feel underprivelaged to have grown up in that time.

    The very best game meat I have eaten was a very large lope I killed a few years ago. I have killed, eaten, and/or tasted every game animal available in the US and that was the best by far. And my wife agrees.

    I know all of you have heard that if a rattle snake strikes you get a shot of whiskey as fast as you can. WELL I have learned that whiskey is not a snake bight cure, but a preventative. That's why I have 3 drinks of Black Velvet every night and I have never been snake bit. :wink:
