Ah. Good to know. Im hoping to acquire my smoothbore around July. Ill then be looking at shoots. Is it “all periods welcome” or tailored to specific periods?

Fusile vs Fowler for future Smoothrifle

I understand that its possible and doable. I used to shoot a CVA percussion that was right handed. Its just that if im going through the process of building id want it to be a lefty. -shrugs-

There is a living history group a couple hours from me. They meet monthly. Every time i try to go to an event i end up working though. ‍♂️ Left hand is important to me. Im cross dominant (right handed/left eye dom), but have been shooting long guns left handed for the past 14 years. Shooting...

Thank you for all of that info. I had not considered plans and doing a try stock. My wants are really based off percieved needs and performance as opposed to looks. They all look good IMO. Historical accuracy is important to me but not everything. While i want to be as accurate as possible, i...

My concern with the curvature of the stock is two fold, comfort and recoil mitigation. The game i hunt in order of likelihood is deer>squirrel>hog>rabbit>dove. So upward angled shots WOULD be less likely, but still within the realm of possibility.

I do enjoy the trade guns. Especially the painted ones for some reason.

Thats what i was referring to. It seems that Type C fusils have much more drop than Type D. At least based on tracks website.

I noticed that the price jumped a bit on a kit i quoted a while back. Not sure where that jump comes from, but at least it was still within budget. Ill check out tracks fowler as well. What kit did you get from sitting fox?

I think i have settled on a fowler in the end. Specifically the colonial i linked prior. For a 1750s-1780s period brass would have been the most prominent fixture option correct? I plan on browning the barrel and lock, doing the maple up one grade from basic, and brass fixtures. Just wanted to...

I really like the RK07, but alas i am devil handed. Thus compounding the situation.

3.25” is the stated drop on the particular fusil i was looking at. However i feel i will more than likely go with a colonial style fowler in the end that has more of a rifle style stock.
