    What period?

Thanks guys. This gun has a fancy patch box.Not like on KY's. You've pretty much confirmed what I thought about the gun.1820's and up.It works for me and is better then the Traditions I used to carry.I've been doing primitive muzzleloading for 35 years off and on. I don't do reenactment although...

    Friendship: Who's going?

I'll probably spend a day there.I live about an hour and a half away. It takes a whole day to just see all the booths.I always buy something and I've spent some big money there too.I'd like to do some trading too.I've got a 1853 Enfield I'd like to trade on a flint smoothbore.I always dream of...

    Enfield two band .58 smooth?

I've got one ,but I don't use it much.I patterned it with no. 6 shot and it filled up a page at 20 yards pretty good.It might be good for squrriel at closer ranges.

    Round ball Vs Minnie

That about answers my question. The keyholeing effect at 25 yards is worse then what the roundball well probably do. I hope to get decent accruacy at 50 yards with the patched ball.I guess it's time to get out to the range. It has a decent pattern with No. 6 shot at 20 yards.Maybe I'll go shoot...

    Round ball Vs Minnie

The barrels as smooth as a baby's butt. When I bought the over sized mold I didn't know that Enfields were .577.I actually had to use a flat board I found to hammer the minnie down the barrel with the ramrod.I made sure it was all the way down as I worried about gappage causing it to blow up the...

    Round ball Vs Minnie

I have a smoothbore Enfield. I shoot a .562 patched round ball out of it. I bought a oversized .578 minnie mold thinking that since it's a smoothbore it would need to be bigger.but it is almost to tight to fit down the barrel. It well with alot of effort, but I've never tryed again.I'm thinking...

    rifling a smoothbore/cutting a barrel

I use a .562 RB with a thin cotton patch made from a t-shrit.I tryed pillow ticking, but had to literally hammer the ball down the barrel. :cursing: I have no idea what the actuall size of the barrel is,but I know it's smaller then .577.When I use 28 ga. wadding for shot they are tight.I'd like...

    rifling a smoothbore/cutting a barrel

Is this guy on the internet? 65.00 sounds like a deal.Of course I expect he'd charge for cutting it down too.

    rifling a smoothbore/cutting a barrel

A 150 yard shot would be from hill to hill where I hunt. The brush is so thick in some places that a big bore brush buster would be nice.It probably wouldn't matter if it was rifled or not,but I hesitate to cut on a perfectly good gun.

    rifling a smoothbore/cutting a barrel

Thanks for the tip about the welding. I would never have thought about that.I have been wondering what it would cost on rifling.Thats why trading is an option for me.I first need to find someone who can do it and find out what they charge.

    rifling a smoothbore/cutting a barrel

Back when I was interested in reenacting I bought a MVTCo 1853 smoothbore Enfield. I thought I might use it to hunt turkey and squrril.I got out of the reenacting bug and sold everything ,but the gun.Now I find that the gauge isn't big enough to hunt turkey in Indiana-it has to be at least a 20...

Forum War! U.S. vs The World (part two)

Well it's been a while since I've gone to war, so I gave it a shot. Actually three shots before my flint went bad and I discovered I didn't have another. This was the only one that hit the target. It looks to be wound for the USA.About 118mm I think. Hope my downloaded target on printer paper...

    MLF FLAG??????

How about just using a simple red hankerchief on the tent or end of a walking stick in front of the tent. Maybe add a turkey or eagle feather or writing quill.

    58 smoothbore Enfield loads?

I sent off to Track of the Wolf for wads and 562 PRB's. Thought I'd try em before I buy a mold. I also squashed and cut a couple round balls and made ol fashioned shot.Just wondering what kind of pattern they create. :hmm: I well eventually buy some regular shot.

    Bayonet for MVTC Enfield

I wouldn't want to damage a original to make it fit. :nono: I guess I'll end up buying a repro to screw it up.--- As I said two replys ago. I'm guessing they made so many that they have little value. How much would they go for? I believe some one mentioned around 90.00?
