Opinions comments on Dixie Jaeger flintlock rifle

I see that Dixie gun works has brought down the price on their Jaeger flintlock rifle. Does anyone have any experience with this gun and if so what are your opinions of this model and maker? I'm really interested in this model of gun and I like the quality of Pedersoli guns...

    New show Iron and Fire

I was watching Forged in fire last night on the History channel and they had a commercial for a new show similar to Forged in Fire called Iron and Fire. From what I could tell from the very short commercial it looks like it will be a "competition" show with various blacksmiths and it looks like...

The advantages of hunting with a muzzle loader article

I just saw this article and thought I would share it with the group. I'm not a hunter, but I found this interesting. http://americanshootingjournal.com/fifty-plus-caliber-freedom/

    Anyone heard of Sam Senkow?

And if you have do you know if his rifles are quality builds? I'm very interested in a rifle made by him. I looked on Google and only found a picture of him with some other guys. I would really appreciate any feedback on this. Thank you in advance.

Any info on a G.R. Douglas hawken?

I found a G R Douglas full stock Hawken rifle for sale. It's a .32 cal rifle and is priced around the $400 mark. IS this a good make and model and is it worth that price?

    What's in your shooting bag?

Being new to the flintlock, I've been working on getting together a shooting bag and trying to keep it somewhat HC. Just for kicks and giggles. Here are some pictures of the various items I have in my shooting bag. I know some probably belong in a haversack, but I just keep them in my shooting...

    My Flintlock Jukar pistol.

This is my second flintlock. I figured I had the rifle so I should get a pistol to go with it. I know there is some smack talk about the jukars, but it's a really well made one and sparks like a champ. It's in .45, the same caliber as my rifle. [/img] [/img] [/img]

    My Flintlock Pedersoli

I bought this rifle off of a guy on GunBroker. It's a really good shooter and is my first flintlock. I'm cutting my teeth on this one. It's a blast to shoot (pardon the pun) and really draws attention from others at the gun range. [/img] [/img] [/img]

All the cannon I could afford

It's not much, but it's shootable and it's portable. Takes black powder and shoots a ball. What more could I ask for? LOL.

a book titled "Black Powder Plainsmen: A beginners guide to Muzzl

Full title of the book: "Black Powder Plainsmen: A beginners guide to Muzzle loading and Reenactments of the Great Plains" by Randy Smith. I recently read this book and wanted to let others know my thoughts. It's a pretty good book on guns and some history of the period. One thing I noticed...

    RIfle Cases

I am looking for a good and somewhat HC/PC gun case for my Pedersoli Kentucky rifle. Something nice to pack it in. I see TOTW has some and am interested in the canvas ones. Would they be HC/PC? Other than that I see a few trade blanket made ones sold on ebay. But the prices of the TOTW ones...

Finally got to shoot my Pedersoli Kentucky rifle

Well, it's been a while since I took delivery on my Pedersoli Kentucky rifle. I finally got to shoot it this last week. Took it to a range about 30 miles from home. This is my first flintlock and I was a bit nervous about how it would go my first time out. I really took care not to dryball my...

    Hello from Iowa.

I'm new here, but not to black powder shooting. I started out back in 1976 with a 51 Navy colt reproduction and shot the heck out of that. My next gun was a .50 Hawken rifle made by CVA. Still have both guns and just added my first flintlock. I bought a Pedersoli Kentucky long rifle in .45 off...
