    Lefties

As noted above, cast can be the issue more than lock location. I have only left hand guns due to an eye injury early in life. Have shot other peoples right hand guns (flint) but had to fight the stock somewhat as they were truly cast-off. I have only seen 2 early guns that were true left hand...

A Very Unique Ruger Old Army

Very interesting piece. I wonder if the CC was an aftermarket touch. Looks to be bone/charcoal process vs. chemical process. Very nice. Have fun with it.

    How low can I go?

I have a 85 year old friend I shoot BP with. He use to have one measure noted as 1/2 load as in fill twice for hunting load. I noted last year he had 2 measures - one full load other 1/2 load. Asked him why and he said "My memory is shot so I do not remember if I loading twice or not" LOL

why I like shooting muzzle stuffers

I would have to agree with how relaxing and good for the gray matter when shooting BP. I also do not mind at all cleaning of BP arms as to me this is all part of method. Let me add that I also rather enjoy all that is needed for modern reloading of cartridges. Not the same but still enjoyable.

what pan powder do you use?

Interesting thread. I have always used 4F but in a pinch (forgot primer container) I have used 2F from horn without an issue. It may be the gun and the builder (Allen Martin) as this rifle has never failed to fire. Cows Knee always used in wet weather and priming swapped out as needed. As...

    Flying with a Muzzleloader

Will be traveling with a ML in December. I appreciate the input regarding moving thru the airport and checking in the rifle. Hopefully I will run into the TSA folks as others have in the past. Best,

    Old age no fun

Just returned from the PA early BP season. The hills got steeper and the gun a little heavier but what great fun just being in the fall woods. At 71 I would hope for more fall seasons not to mention the special Flintlock season in late December. Think Young
