Condensation on muzzleloader barrel in season cabin.

Thinking of putting my 1960's don france built 45 cal caplock in my seasonal snowmobile cabin. The heat source is vented propane. When I am not there, I leave the heat off. It's a 12x12 cabin and I do cook in there too, once the place heats up enough. Would any of you be worried about the...

Why not Pyrodex in a flintlock?

Blackpowder can be tough to get for some. Definitely use real stuff in the pan. If you have one of those patent chambers like thomspon and lyman guns do, put about 5-10gr real stuff in first, then pyrodex afterwards. Numerous modern pellet powder manufacturers have a grey pellet with a black...

    Moose hunting with the .54

I shoot a .535 with 80gr no problem. Moose are big, but are about the same to put down as a deer. Elk.... That front leg is massive for climbing hills, that takes more to put down than bullwinkle. Moose are dangerous game in my opinion. If you can use a rifle, you'd be wiser to do so. I'd...

    SOLD 8x10 canvas wall tent

I bought this 8x10 wall tent from the blacksmith of durham CT. Everything is in decent shape. Some discoloration. Not sure who makes it, but it says marine canvas. I can not ship the poles, but i'll give you dimentions. I put it up on a windy day with the main post only. Each side take 4...

SOLD Large Whitney Point Blanket Capote

For sale is a large whitney point blanket capote. Not sure who made it. Too small for me. My spare tire is pushing towards xxl soon, but still fit in a XL jacket. I have about 2 inches of overlap. So, I'd say a large is about right for size. Has some use, but nothing is bad on it. Asking...

SOLD Thompson Center Renegade 54 flinlock H&R Lock Lyman 57 GPR Sight

1 in 48 twist is common for this rifle. I put a jag in the 27 in barrel and it turned a litte over 1/2 turn.

SOLD Elk Felt Insulated Moccosains size 9

For sale is a pair of mocossains made out of elk skin. They have a nice thick felt lining. I wore them a few times, but have to wear medical inserts in my shoes, so no cowboys and indians for my feet.... $65 shipped via USPS

SOLD Thompson Center Renegade 54 flinlock H&R Lock Lyman 57 GPR Sight

For sale is a nice thompson center renegade 54 cal RH flintlock. I replaced the lock with a L&R large siler. Gun shoot good with .530 ball, .018" patch with ballistol solution dried on it. Stock has a small scratch on the bottom and a spot by the lock. Can be seen in pics, but this is a nice...

Swamping a straight barrel by hand?

I bought a 45 cal 42 inch 13/16th's barrel. Too nose heavy... My solution, I cut it to 36" and hand crowned the barrel. Even 38" would be nicer to handle.

Walnut or maple for a Transitional Rifle

A few things to think about, I'm not sure of the answers myself. -Edward Marshall rifle is big. Will walnut versus maple make the gun even more heavier? -How well carved will this be? Relief carvings, decorative inlets, and things like that. I think figured walnut is less forgiving of chips...

    62 cal smoothbore lyman GPR?

I do have a renegade, but in RH as a loaner gun. Sighted it in and used it a few times with no problems. Either case, I do need a spare barrel to get resized. I was hoping for the lyman gun. IT has been good to me through the muzzleloader seasons.

    62 cal smoothbore lyman GPR?

Anyone get a barrel opened up to make a smoothbore? Looking to get a temporary squirrel gun until I build my own. I got a lyman GPR flintlock in LH.

Caplock important to an avid hunter

Think an avid hunter in the northeast needs a caplock for deer hunting? I hunt locally, but hunt often 2 and 4 hours away at a fields and Adirondack forests. Often multi day hunts. Debating my next build. Got a early reading 54 cal rice barrel and chambers lock in lh flint. Got a lyman...
