    Flintlock flinching

Just keep shooting until you get it in your head that it's just gonna go boom and that's all. If you are 100% focused on that clear tip of the front sight as you should be you wont even know when the cock falls. If your recoil sensitive it might take a couple more shots.

    .45 Caliber: Deer?

I like my 54, 58 and 62 but I killed my first 6 flinlock deer here in PA with my T/C hawken. The largest buck dressed out at 192 lbs, double lung at 70 yards with a prb & 75gr 3F. The exit hole was about the size of a half dollar. He went down about 40 yards. All but one went down within 40-60...

The PA ‘One-of-a-Kind’ Flintlock Deer Season Turns 50!

I started hunting PA's flintlock season in 1979 and I haven't missed one since. No matter where in the world I was stationed I made sure I had leave time to get home for at least a few days. It has always been my favorite time in the woods. Other than bow season, I hunt all of PA's seasons with...

    I've screwed up....

I've always been able to clear a barrel with compressed air with either a Co2 discharger or from an air compressor. I've cleared a dry ball twice and a stuck ramrod on the range by trickling powder into the chamber and shooting it out. I never had to use a greasegun yet and thank the Lord I...

    LeMat Revolver

Come to think about it, it wasn't Quigley down under it was in Forsaken.

    LeMat Revolver

Does anyone here own and shoot a LeMat? How do you like it? I'm not a BP pistol shooter, flintlock hunting and shooting have always been my passion but I always thought that I wanted a BP revolver. Recently I saw the movie Quigley down under and there was a LeMat so I had to find out what it...

    Hard clay slingshot ammo?

If it's a smoothbore pistol I'd definitely try it.

    Muzzleloader Confiscated at Mass. Airport

I carried on a flight a handful of times along with about 300 other Marines M4's and M9's flying to Iraq. I remember saying to my buddy that this is probably the safest this plane has ever been. The funny thing was here we were 300 M4's and I dont know how many side arms aboard and our bayonets...

    Flintlock smith needed

Isn't that a patent breech? If it is and that hole is located ahead of the back of the powder chamber, I'd rebreech it and drill a fresh hole in the correct location. If the that hole is already at the back of the powder chamber where it should be and it's that far forward then the tang and...

    Ratio unmentionables to BP firearms?

I'm about even. My flintlocks took over all hunting duties.

    Barrel sleeve

I wouldn't worry about a pattern until I had the gun built and ready to shoot. If you can't work up a good load/pattern have it jug choked, chances are you won't need it. I've killed quite a few gobblers from 10 to 35 yards and deer and bear from 25 to 75 yards with a no choke 20 bore Fussil de...
