Well, here’s my woodsrunner (pic heavy)

Great build! The extra brass inlays are very nice. The finish really made that flame look to the grain pop.

Got the permalyn lid off, First coat of finish on!

You can always adjust or change it. If you think what you have is too dark, you can use a piece of maroon Scotchbrite pad, or sandpaper. Dip them in the finish and as you apply a coat, rub it out and lighten areas or the whole stock. Just take it slow.

Modifying iron nitrate stain on curly maple with dye

Here's one of my SMR's still in process with Laurel Mountain Forge Honey Maple and no iron nitrate. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/kibler-smr-lmf-honey-maple-eye-candy.169247/

    Patchbox on Kibler Woodsrunner

In my case, the metal fit just needed a slight de-burr. More of a slight polish. It was the wood dovetail fit that required very careful sanding. The amounts were very small and I had to touch it up a bit more once I added finish, and then refinish. Use fine sandpaper instead of the file...

    Muzzleloader Magazine Nov/Dec

Arrived here on the 20th. I love the feel of paper. But I also know postal rates are high and going up again. Cost of printing is outrageous. I do not know how many people are writing articles today. I just lost another lifetime magazine to Internet pdf files only. I really suspect that...

Can anyone supply a list of states where a BP gun must go to an FFL holder?

Private business is no business of the gooberment. Just don't do anything stupid to be questioned about it.

    Powder and mice?

If I remember correctly, $4,255 rodent damage to our 2009 RAV4. I thought they were gonna total it at the time. The dealer had a Sienna van in the shop for the same reason and about same damage total. I don't know if they work, but we do put those little bags of repellent you can get at the...

    Help, I have an Addiction!

They had a couple very nice sugar maple stocks that were a bit tempting. But there was one. Looked extra fancy with lots of that flame looking curl. It also had a couple of large staining areas that I thought added more interest. So a bit of a discount for that. I went back several times...

    Bazinga!!!!!! Cracked.... What to do?

Me? I would use it as a learning experience. I would try to see how much thin CA glue I could get down into the cracks and try to fill them from the worm hole also. Only as it was for myself. Regardless, I should learn something from doing it.

    Kibler's Hunting Pouch

When I got the emails, I thought that this was fantastic! I see it's even better with some of the constructive comments in this thread. This is a very affordable kit that is designed to help the maker succeed. Many of us out here really like working with our hands. I do not mean that which...

    Waxing rifle stocks

The following is my opinion, and not based on facts. Just a lifetime of observation. When it comes to firearms and tools, oil and wax have their place. If it's used often, an oily rag at the end of day and a quick wipe will keep metal in good condition. Those silicone impregnated cloths the...

Files for making barrel lug dovetails

Thanks all! My current triangle files are either too small, too worn, or too fine. I shall remedy that. Interesting use of the hacksaw and cold chisel. I never even thought of using a hacksaw, and several of you builders do that.

Files for making barrel lug dovetails

So the problem I have is, the lugs measure 470 thousands at the widest. My Grobet files are at least 520 thousands wide. I have dug through all I have and the older stuff just isn't suitable. Where are you guys finding good metal files a bit less than a 1/2" in width? Preferably no more than...

    kibler fowling piece

It appears that the fowler will have a gracefulness much like the Kibler SMR. Looking through the books, there are so many old makers that were a bit clunky in their designs. At least to my eye. I may have to wait a bit, but I will almost certainly be ordering a Kibler fowler.

Kibler SMR & LMF Honey Maple eye candy

I bought this Kibler SMR .40cal about 2.5 years ago I think. Been sitting in it's box patiently waiting. Today it got some more sanding and then a good coat of Laurel Mountain Forge Honey Maple stain. I wanted a lighter colored rifle and this is looking mighty fine. Just the buttstock. I'll...
