    Southern Mountain Rifles

Right now Fellow AMM member and riflesmith is living in the area of the Bean Family riflemakers and does a kickbutt copy of their work....heck I think he has one of them finished now in .36....not my favorite caliber, but correct fot the rifles built there...those folks were stingy with lead...

    bugs

Local folks used to rely on sulphur dusted around the lower legs. Kerosene dabbled on the lower pants leg kept ticks/chiggers off. Neither smelled human like and worked well enough. With all the west nile/malaria/creepy manure out there I would use the best stuff available out there I opt for it...

AWWWW, now I remembers....Kukri, Fran, and Ollie was a musical group like Peter, Paul , and Mary....or Olivia, Newt, and John.... :redthumb:

Shooting Flintlocks from the oppossing side

I know a few Lefty's that shoot right handed....and they fare pretty well....I imagine it would take some getting used to though. Dont believe you will find pyrodex being used in flint guns....it works kinda like hush-a-boom.....that new silent powder....dont go off!

Is this rifle maker any good??

Well said Rat. I might also add that by carefully choosing the builder, the value of my custom built rifles/smoothbores has doubled and tripled over the years as well as providing me with quality equiptment.

    34th Alafia River Rondezvous

Might not be a bad idea to thoroughly check out what your getting into. After attending several years, I got told this past week that a self propelled device is out of the question....handicap or not.....I would have to pull myself around in a wagon I suppose.....kinda chintzy for an...

    smoothbore full octagon barrels

As you delve deeper into the flintlock world you will find many many many originals that are and were smooth. I recently finished Eats-More-Moose a 54(28 guage) smooth that he seems pleased with. FRONTIER Gun Shop has many octogon barrels that are smooth.....all ya gotta do is give him a call...

    New kit, First kit

I agree with these guys....send it all back....any leverage with these people is already gone anyhow, and they evidently dont intend to be concerned with your busines. If that isn't incentive enough...consider that the parts you are holding now and the ones you get somewhere else may be a long...

    TwoShadows lurking again...beware of opinions

Longknife...Guess it's true that I'm just a "shadow" of my former self....If I make it to Alafia you can get directions to my diggins from Tip Curtis at Frontier Gun Shop....he can go to his front door and point past the ceremonial circle. I aint sure I will be able to make it, but it is...

    TwoShadows lurking again...beware of opinions

After several months of Chemotherapy and Radiation, old TwoShadows is able to lurk around the forum again. Got enough loose hide on me after loosing 65 pounds to look like a hairless flying squirrel....about as weak as month old kitty litter...but able to enjoy the site again. Looking forward to...

    early rustic arms

Mr Williams is likeable enough...seems honest and fair. His work is comparable to Jackie Brown....not what I would call really fancy and neat, crisp, clean, but workable. I doubt he will ever be classed among the premier makers.

Can you help me find a gun?

I am in the process of receiving a really nice custom smoothbore that will be for sale. It is an Eddie Brown 20 guage fowler. Not to be confused with Jackie Brown. Eddie's guns are much to be desired and are more of the $12-$1500 class.....not a 6-700 dollar weapon. High quality parts....VERY...

    Dandy .58 on A.A.

O K Maxi, so I'm anal retentive. I just took you at your word and answered what you asked. I dont offer you credentials as either a builder or broker, but I will not contribute just to be abused by you or anyone else. It's not my fault that you bid on it and expect me to ooooh and aaaah over...

    Dandy .58 on A.A.

Parts list sounds good Maxi.....but the proportions just dont "click" for me in the photo's. "ramshorn nose cap" is a new idea to me too....dont recon I've ever encountered one before on a Hawken style gun. I'm no expert, but the long rear sight setup don't look right either. Wrist is too...
