Need A Tang Peep For TC New Englander

Sorry. I'm technologically challenged with the photo business. It is a rather simple tang mounted low profile sight originally marketed by T/C. They are often available used at inflated prices on various auction sites.

Ron. Looks like the Lyman suits you just fine. Beautiful animals!

Need A Tang Peep For TC New Englander

I use the Lyman sight on a modified T/C Hawken for target shooting. It works well for that purpose although the aperture has to be shimmed for stability. The profile is pretty high for hunting use. When hunting I use a T/C peep.

    Pecatonica River Half Stock

The Pecatonica Hawken replacement solved multiple issues for me. I can shoot with more erect shooting posture (neck injuries). No longer slaps cheek from bench. Easier on shoulder with full loads (added a little length). New life for an old rifle/shooter!

    Navy arms hunter

I think you are describing the "Buffalo Hunter". I had one in the 70's/80's. Great hunting rifle. Performed well with light or heavy loads. I also changed the sights on mine. Peep sights always work better for me. Hope you enjoy your rifle as much as I did mine.

    Plugged Fire Channel

Thanks to each of you who responded. I now have enough information to solve the problem. What a great bunch of Folks!

    Plugged Fire Channel

It is plugged between shots. You may have identified the problem. I wipe with a pretty tight patch jag combo. I will try a smaller jag.

    Plugged Fire Channel

I clean rifle by removing nipple and drop breech into container of warm tap water with one drop of Dawn soap. I pump solution in and out ten or twelve times. Pipe cleaner in fire channel.Scrub with nylon bore brush six times. twist small caliber bore brush in patent breech several times. Flush...

    Plugged Fire Channel

Thanks. Think I'll try the FFF first. The current nipple hole is already pretty large (probably couple of thousand shots on it). If that doesn't solve problem will change cleaning solution.

    Plugged Fire Channel

I also clean thoroughly with pipe cleaner. It is becoming fouled after shooting.

    Plugged Fire Channel

Does anyone have advice for preventing plugged fire channel in .50 cal. T/C Hawken percussion rifle? Have to pull nipple frequently and prime with powder to get it to fire. Seventy grains real black 2F. Patched roundball lubed with mink oil or Dutch's formula. I swab between shots with damp...

will GPR sights fit on a Deerstalker?

When I am hunting in low light I just remove the sighting disc and use the threaded hole. You can shoot accurately in near darkness.

    tc replacement stock

Budget limits me to factory rifles. I considered looking at a GPR. It has more drop and might work. I'd have to find someplace that sells the rifle to test. The difference would be $600 for a new rifle compared to $120 for the Pecatonica stock. Wish I could afford a custom build right now. Maybe...

    tc replacement stock

You did a great job on lowering the comb and blending the lines. Your modification undoubtedly cures the cheek slap phenomenon many experience with the TC. My problem however is not getting down on the sights; it is rather raising the line of sight so that I won't have to bend my neck as far...

    tc replacement stock

Your rifle is well beyond my skill level. Great job! I am very interested in your comment that the rifle is easier to shoulder and aim with the additional drop. I wonder if the extra drop allows you to shoot with your head in a more upright position than the factory wood?

    tc replacement stock

My first post after lurking a long time. I shoot a stock .50 TC Hawken strictly for entertainment with prb and 70 gr. 2F. A chronic neck condition causes considerable discomfort after normal range sessions of 30-35 shots offhand. I am considering restocking rifle with a Pecatonica River...
