    Cleaning help!

I certainly understand the urge to give a "tongue lashing". I would be a little upset too. But now that the initial shock has worn off. Can I suggest. Yes, have him come over and clean his gun. While you sit back, supervise and enjoy a cool beverage. I have found that cleaning firearms is a...

    Peep sight question.

Theoretically all sights (or 99.9% of them) are lined up with the center line of the bore of the firearm. Therefor any peep sight that will fit your rifles will work for you. Think of it this way. There are no "left handed" scopes.

    Barrel lapping?

I am new to Muzzleloaders so I can only speak of "modern firearms". I lap my new barrels with J-B Non-Embedding Bore Cleaning Compound. I try to do ten patch's a night each with ten strokes. For a week. It certainly cant hurt.

How about High Mountain Hunting Supply? I myself have not been to their store in a few years But I hear their adds on the radio. I would think you could get good cleaning solvents from them.

Removing flesh/meat from a deer skull.

Ok ! Ok I hear ya with the ants ..... Lol. I do have a few red ant piles in my yard. But I also have cyoties and dammed neighbor dogs. (I'd like to shoot them both ). But the main reason I don't want to leav it out side is I don't want the antlers to fade. Ill be carefully whilest I pick my...

Removing flesh/meat from a deer skull.

The skull is coming along fine. I still need to remove the "stuff" in the nasle cavity. And there is some flesh still in the brain cavity. I'm letting it dry out a bit. With the thought that I can break out some if the sinu stuff. I'm trying not to break anything. So I'm being very gentle. Ill...

    polishing brass

You just want to "Polish" so just use a good metal polish. If its really grimmy you can apply the meatal polish with some really fine steel wool. See how it cleans up then maybe you could go to the sand paper.

Removing flesh/meat from a deer skull.

I have been working on it for two days. Low and slow.....I don't think I had the heat up high enough. I heard not to boil so I kept it low. Im not using any chemicals. Just water..But the beef bouillon thing. I was thinking about throwing in some salt and pepper a few bay leafs and big sprig of...

    very strange sidelock

I was going to say an expensive cap gun. But Mooman76 I think you are correct. That "hammer block" not only has two screws holding it in place it is also pined. So zimmerstutzen tell us where you found this. Give us some background.

Removing flesh/meat from a deer skull.

I have a Mule Deer skull, 3x3 with about a 16 inch spread. Id like to clean it up and keep the skull intact. In the past I have buried them. but I did not like those results. I did a search and I read to steam the skull for 20min then pick out the flesh. Then soak in warm water for a week...

    removing rust from inside barrel

I cut small patches out of a Green Scotch Brite pad. Poked a hole in the middle then screw it into my cleaning rod. You can use the solvent of your choice. Id go for the cheapest. Replace the patch about every ten strokes. Brass/bronze or other metal brushes can get stuck in your bore if they...

    CVA Hawken trigger problem

Take the gun out and shoot it. Then see what "you" think. There will always be "better" guns. But your CVA might be just fine for your intended perpouse. Good luck And have fun Andy
