    Kibler side effect?

I would be very interested to see that.

    Gemmer Hawkin wedge PIA

Also... I tried AquaFortis on the stock and when I blushed it with the heat gun she turned totally black. Had to scrape it down and go with a walnut oil based stain. I've used the iron nitrate successfully on a beechwood stock but what ever this European wood was it wasn't liking the iron nitrate.

Any one know off hand what the thread size is on the Gemmer Hawkin flash hole liner?

    Gemmer Hawkin wedge PIA

Not loose any more. I've peened the wedge just a bit and bent the lug. As far as establishing more reliable ignition I'm wondering if a White Lightnin touch hole liner might help. What is the thread size on and invest Gemmer Hawkin?

    Gemmer Hawkin wedge PIA

So yesterday before the rain set in I ran ten rounds through it with only one flash in the pan. What I had done was drill out the flash hole to 1/16" and flipped the flint over so the angle gave a better line up with the pan. For the barrel wedge I'm going to peen it a bit on the narrow side and...

    Gemmer Hawkin wedge PIA

Have quite a few kit builds to my credit over the years. Starting back to the mid 80's. A TC hawken, Pedersoli Pennsylvania, Dixie mountain, a couple of CVA guns for friends and as of late I've done all three of Kibler's offerings. So I have some experience though limited to kit guns. So...

Found this old newspaper in a cigar box in a brick row house built around 1850.

    Ocd are you

Nope not ocd. Pack rat by nature which comes from being raised by a father who grew up on a farm during the depression. Interesting thing about my clutter though. I know where everything is for the most part. When it gets to the point where I can't find something I "clean up". When I'm in the...

    To carve or not

I hear you about stock carving being precise but I think you have a pretty good leg up when it comes to using chisels and such.

    Red pan after a shot

Somehow I find these little nuances very interesting. If I had lived back in the day when magic was still real what might I have thought when I saw my gun "shedding blood"?

Slow work on a Woods Runner

Phill Can you describe your process on that brass lid plate. I've already screwed up one patchbox lid and have another one on order. The one I messed up I took the curve out of the wood and made a flat one but it looks like hell. Looks like you shaped the brass to the curve in the wood??

    Woods Runner ready

Nicely done. I have been admiring the way you did the brass on the end of the patch box lid in one of your previous posts. Craftsmanship!!

"Dragons Blood" I like that. I think from now on I'll refer to my colonial as The Dragon.

    Red pan after a shot

No I didn't see it as a problem. Just curious as to what it might be chemically. I know iron oxide is reddish brown and thought maybe some kind of reaction between the heated iron of the gun and the burning powder. Like I said disappears so quick I had to take several pictures to get the camera...
