    Primative Peep sight

Hi all, I recently purchased a nice half stock 40 cal rifle and want to do something a bit differnt with it. I would like to put a hooded front sight on it and a rear peep sight. The peep sight Im looking for looks like a flat disc or semi heart shape atop a threaded post that is adjusted by...

    Pipe and tobacco

Cool info but reading your post just cost me $50 because after seeing them now I have to have one! The Jas Townsend remake looks to be pretty true to the originals which I guess is no big surprise considering the source. :v

    Pipe and tobacco

I got a buddy that sewed a couple loops on his neck knife sheath so the stem of his clay pipe slides down into them. It i dont know if he invented the concept but it really is quite clever.

    possibles bag strap

I always make my straps out of the same leather the bag is made from. I will often use pillow ticking folded in two with the seam on the back side sewn to the underside of the strap to help keep it from stretching . This also adds a nice look ,especially if you line the bag with the same...

    Light weight rifle

Well , thanks again for all of the replies. It seems as if we may have found something that fits the bill. I came across an Ardesa 50 cal on Gun broker. It looks to be very well kept, maybe unfired. Anyway the rifle is 40 inches long and weighs a mere 5 1/2 pounds. Just the right size and the...

    Light weight rifle

What is the shortest barreld and lightest weight traditional style cap lock production rifle available? My friends wife loves to shoot but has a real hard time shooting off hand with the weight and balance of most production rifles she has tried.

Sheath on the back of the pouch.

I have made a couple shooting bags with the knife sheaths attached to the rear of the bag. One handle pointed forward the other handle straight up and down. I like them both. I dont see any drawbacks to either one. You can still carry a belt knife or neck knife this just gives you one more tool...

It would seem that for a 48 twist 70 grs is the magic number. That is what most of em seem to like best.

    Dixie Gun Works Inc.

I have bought quite a bit of stuff from dixie over the years , no problems with shooting supplies and such but I will NEVER by a knife or axe from them again!!! I bought their fort meigs axe and it was tempered so hard the first time I used it to cut a small sapling it took a big chunk out of...

    45 CAL for white tail?

I shot a nice big doe last winter with my 45 prb 80gr 3fff at about 35-40 yrds. Thru and thru double lung she ran maybe 40 yrds and piled up! First time I ever used the 45 for deer but I would not hesitate to use it again. My main deer gun is a 54 cal hawken and I love the way it puts em down...
