    Bamboo as ramrod?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the use of bamboo or river cane as a nice ramrod material? It is so naturally straight, stiff, and tough, seems like it is a natural choice ........?

This website is such a great thing! Thanks to whoever for providing it.

Stuck Brush in a Hawken 50

Actually, now I think I get it. The answer is NOT that there is ANY gripping of the brush by the tubing, but simply reversing the angle of the bristles which allows the barrell to release ITs grip on the brush. Right? Ding ding ding!

Stuck Brush in a Hawken 50

Thanks zonie, but no. I can envision it all right, just still don't see the "gripping" action. I'll take it on faith and hope I never have to try it. I was scared to use a brush for 2~3 years of BP just because of what I read here, but got brave this year with my .50 cal And the brush use was...

Well, that's exactly how I acquired mine last year, for $100 even.

    Source for HC/PC Shovel?

We were just at Jamestown and they have recovered a number of shovels but all that survived was the metal cutting edge, which had been attached to the wood scoop and handle. I never knew of shovels made that way. Don't know when they switched to all metal blades from the wood/metal combination...

    CVA hawken worth?

I've just seen it twice. See cowboys post on 4-27-16 at 04:04 pm, for example. Responding to FML, plus I have seen FML posts in other threads, also missing. :(

    best steel for sparks

My nine year old son bought his at a Ronny and as he used it later it snapped right in two! Inside the break, the surfaces looked kind of like silver chalk surfaces in texture. Otherwise, it sparked decently.

    tinder box

This here above matches what they were telling the visitors at Colonial Williamsburg this past summer, as I was surprised to hear that and took notice of same.

New to me CVA Mountain Rifle kit

Obviously one of the recent "snowflake" fellows we hear about in the recent news stories. As you can see, my previous comment went right over his head. He shows his serial number is NOT expressed in the same format as mine and others here in the discussion. Serial numbers do not normally have...

New to me CVA Mountain Rifle kit

Any company that would arrange a serial number like this: 88 1234567 certainly deserves to be accused of giving people the wrong impression, I'll just say that much.

    wild straberries

I guess I have had the ones you describe. No taste at all and very little juice, if any. Seen them all my life in SE Virginia.

    Drying Apples

I dry apple and pear slices on a screen, away from insects in a hot car with windows closed. Works quickly with no energy cost! I thought of this decades ago when I was a kid.

Not cvs but cva, spelled out, yes. Also, just before the serial number is 88.

    The Enduring Percussion Muzzleloading Rifle

I'd like to be able to say this, but I doubt I ever will, for this reason. I live on a farm. My 12 gauge pump is always loaded, and ready at hand. I grab it at the opportunity to shoot food, or shoot a varmint a the drop of a hat. Because of the unavoidable necessity of the full cleaning process...

Would you have time to check that catalog? Mine is also lacking the patchbox. Thanks!
