    Naming your guns?

I have trouble remembering my boy's names so if I tried naming all 130 guns I would be in trouble.

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

I must say for someone who has been a member of this forum for only about 46 days, that is considered abusive behavior on most forms I belong to. Also you do not own a thread, you start it but the forum owns it and anyone can contribute to it.

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

Same here, I have boolits and round balls that I had cast 20 years ago and they have yet to get any dust or oxide form on them. I do have some minie balls that were in some stuff that came with the ACW items I bought and they did have oxide coatings.

    Grapevine peeling

That vine is a twig compared to some around my place. I once wondered if I could get a stock out of some of mine. I'll have to admit I don't make charcoal so all the vines I cut go on the burn pile.

    Rifle vs. Smoothbore

I think the main reason was for versatility. The owner could use round ball or shot, depending on what he was hunting.

    Grandpa stories

My dad taught me how to swim, wasn't hard once I got out of the sack.:ghostly: EDIT: I finally found the picture of my Grandpa Frank in his Beer delivery wagon.

    Grandpa stories

Y'all have heard about my grandfather on my fathers side and his Ohio Vincent .36 flintlock that he taught me about muzzle loading. But not much about him other than that. Before I was born he was a blacksmith and in the army with Gen. Blackjack Pershing during the Mexican Campaign chasing...

    No jokes?

One Sunday morning, a priest wakes up and decides to go golfing. He calls his boss and says that he feels very sick, and won't be able to go to work. Way up in heaven, Saint Peter sees all this and asks God, ''Are you really going to let him get away with this?'' ''No, I guess not,'' says God...

    Long Term Rust Prevention

What ever is used for long term or short term, if it is petroleum based it should be thoroughly cleaned out of the bore with alcohol as black powder & petroleum based products do not play well together.

    Unknown, possibly Asian, flintlock.

I'd say it looks like a Khyber Pass copy of some sort. The gunsmiths there are infamous for making copies of old guns to be sold to the tourist trade. Some are shoot-able others not so much. If I were to try and shoot it, I would proof it from a distance first, but don't be surprised if it turns...

    Mowrey Bicentennial Rifle Part Needed

I'm trying to figure out why you need to replace that mainspring link in the picture.

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

Also check for debris or dirt/rust in the line up pin holes, I once found cleaning them out helped eliminate the mold seam.

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

I had a couple of molds that left more sprue than I was willing to accept. Took the sprue plate off and used a flat whetstone to mill the mold a little until there was no more sprue protrusion.

    Low Tech Range Finding Instruments...

I have a range finder that my G Grandfather used in the ACW as a Captain. It was made by the Frankford Armory and the one sold by TOW is a not so good copy. Here is a replica that is just like it. https://www.budk.com/Frankford-Arsenal-Range-Finder-Brass-Construction--48481

    Mowrey Bicentennial Rifle Part Needed

I would make one from a piece of flat stock. A drill and several size files would do it. Any competent blacksmith/gunsmith could make one for you. I forged a main spring for a friend some years ago.

    Carburetor cleaner

I use 3 in 1 oil but you have to run a couple of alcohol patches before shooting again. Black powder and petroleum products do not play well together. Lately I have been using Barricade in the bore which doesn't need alcohol to shoot it again, just a dry patch. Still use 3 in 1 on all the moving...
