    where to find caps

Anybody have any good leads as to where I can find #11 percussion caps, everyone seems to be sold out? I know Dixie Gun Works has some they import from Germany, but they want an arm and a leg, plus, the hazardous shipping fee adds even more to the already high cost.

    Musket Caps on long rifle

The nipple on my long rifle needs replacing, and a friend suggested using a musket nipple and caps, claiming I will get a hotter ignition. Has anyone ever tried this, and what were your results?

    first rifle

My wife decided I needed a boom stick, and I wasn't about to argue with her, so, we bought a 45 from a friend of ours, figuring that if I only own one rifle, a 45 is small enough for small game and large enough for deer. Anyway, I am clueless as to what I need (besides patches, balls, and power)...

    Camp tokens

I've been collecting tokens from the various rondys I attend, and was considering making some sort of display item to attach them to.(I've been told they are called storyboards) I'm thinking of cutting a Celtic Cross out of leather, and painting it, after suspending it, like a beaver pelt, in a...

    Tent Stove Question

The Misses and I want to get a wood stove for our tent, and we found a pretty good deal on a mil surp potbelly stove (100 bucks, New, includes the stove pipe) Has anyone had any experience with this stove, I know it isn't PC, but for the price, assuming it works well, it seems to be worth a try.

    Scotch Eggs

Deep frying at rondys has become a staple for the me and the misses, and we fry just about everything you can put in a chicken fryer, but our favorite has to be Scotch Eggs. Hard boiled egg encased in pork sausage, dipped into an egg wash, rolled in bread crumbs and deep fried until golden...

So the wife and I decided to enter the cast Iron cooking contest at the Heart of the Earth rondy in Pipestone Mn, We decided to make Chicken and Dumplings, knowing that we make a darn good version of the dish, and that the dish is loved by almost everyone. We started by sweating a large...

    Goodbye to Father Ryan

I'd just like to say goodbye to Dave Ryan better known around camps in Minnesota as Father Ryan. He was a great guy and he is sorely missed. :(

will a 45 do the job?

I've been wanting a long rifle for quite a while, but due to the fact that my last name isn't Rockefeller, my budget is very small. I know a guy who is selling a absolutely gorgeous 45 (can't remember the manufacturer) percussion Long Rifle for under $200. (a price I can barely afford) I plan on...

    Albert Lea Mn Trade Fair

Has anyone been to the trade fair in Albert Lea Minnesota? I found an ad for it online stating that it was Feb 9th & 10th, and I was wondering if anyone had been there, and if it was worth my time to plan a day trip.

    Grease Lamp

I'm thinking about obtaining a grease lamp to light my camp, but I'm defiantly on a budget. I would prefer a forged model, but stoneware would be OK too. I saw the stoneware one at JAS, but wasn't overwhelmed. Anyone have any ideas?
