I recall a thread about Paypal use.......update on that.

I recall use discussion how "Paypal was fine for gun parts." Several disagreed when I pointed out their past bans on such. Well, guess what? This is a direct quote from a gentleman on another forum. " So, I am sure most of you know about eBay and PayPal's anti gun policy of 10 years ago, I...

Anyone restore or know of a person that restores wood stocks?

So I have an early TC kit rifle but the stock has seen better days. It has some annoying chips knocked out of it. Anyone here or do you know of anyone that can repair this and refinish the wood without the buttplate sticking out?

How do we rehab bullets with dried out lube?

I have been lucky enough to find a few boxes of my favorite bullets, the Hornady Great Plains Bullet, but these are old, the lube is flaking off. What is the best way to remove that stuff and what to replace it with?

    Testing the flintlock?

New to flintlocks and a bit worried I might not get mine to shoot. Is it a good idea to put in a charge of 2F, prime, and drop the hammer without a projectile? I could do this off the back porch. Then clean as usual. What do you guys think?

What's a good deer rifle for a small statue woman?

Looking for a good rifle for my rather petite GF/soon-to-be-wife. Thinking something she could take a deer with. TC Seneca? TC Cherokee? I'm thinking .45 caliber.

    Dropped hammer for my dad....

My dad has never seen a muzzleloader in use. Well last night, we were watching a Glen Ford movie about the Alamo and the subject of flintlocks came up. I went and grabbed my TC (pre) Hawken flintlock to tell him about how it worked. We both had the idea of turning out the lights and turning...

    Thompson Center Hammer Upgrade Question?

To upgrade my TC Renegades and Hawken, is all I need the newer style hammer? Do I need any other parts--springs or something?

TC nipple wrench.....is there a substitute?

I need a nipple wrench....on my CVA I just used my thumb and index finger but the TC....like the wedge.....not happening. Is there a readily available substitute tool that will work without issue?
  9. G

Will a claw hammer work as a makeshift "wedge puller?"

I don't have a wedge puller and my old method of removing my CVA's wedge isn't going to work on my TC's. The CVA, I pushed it from one side (with my thumb? don't recall for sure) and then pulled it out with my thumb and finger. The TC's though, not going to happen that way! Can I just use a...

FINALLY. Got everything I think I need ordered.

Yesterday, went to a friend's house and ordered about $100.00 worth of gear from TOTW. Balls, patches, ball block, cleaning ram rod, cleaning jag, etc. to get the .45 TC Hawken running. Eagerly awaiting delivery.

Flintlock swabbing process? How to clean between shots?

OK.....almost ready to begin shooting my .45 Thompson Center Hawken flintlock. However, I am a bit concerned swabbing might push fouling down into the breech. Does the TC flintlock have a patent breech to worry about? I've shot my CVA caplock over 100 times, usually swabbing with a wet patch...

    In luck! Founds some patches.

Well I am in luck. Found some .45 patches that I've had for years along with .58 caliber patches. Apparently I used shotgun cleaning patches for swabbing. All good finds. Won't have to order these now.

What thread size did Thompson Center use?

8-32 or 10-32 or something else for accessories?
  14. G

Score! Found several boxes of Hornady Great Plains Bullets in .45 and .54.

Well, I might have gotten lucky....200 .45 caliber Hornady Great Plains bullets in .45 and 30 of same in .54. Now if the hurricane doesn't wash the seller away!
  15. G

Which of these two pages of items is a good bullet lube?

I miss the days of .45 cal Hornady Great Plains Bullets! Anyway, looks like I'll have to lube my own bullets for now.....I plan to buy a box of maxi balls from TOTW but those come un-lubed. Which of these on this link is a good bullet lube for those bullet grooves? Thanks...

Cleaning the Thompson Center "patent breech?"

So the TC has a chamber at the base of the breech----is that so? How does one clean that area?

Quick Load Accuratizer (QLA)....can you load patched round ball without issue?

Well the Silver Elite has QLA but I want to shoot my PBR's.....will loading be an issue?

Did Thompson Center make a .45 caliber Renegade?

I think I prefer the Renegade to the Hawken.....did they make a Renegade in .45 caliber?
  19. G

.45 Thompson Center pre Hawken flintlock has arrived! Worth the wait.

Wow, just wow, very happy with the rifle. It is in very nice condition, rifling perfect, touch hole liner without blemish, but appears to have been shot due to frizzen wear and blue missing around touch hole. Stocks slightly dented. Here she is!
