How I spent my half of Income tax returns.

I owed the feds this year, due to jumping up a tax bracket. However, due to a good end-of-year-bonus, I invested in some more guns/gear.

    Pietta Vs Centaur

According to serial number, this one is from 1965, and looks to be completely unfired.

    Pietta Vs Centaur

Belgian made in the 60's and early 70's. Legends say on Colt equipment using Colt drawings. Don't know if that's true.

Oh, and quick and dirty, I have eight as well.

Centaur Centennial Arms 1960 New Army Picture thread .

I picked up #4327 this afternoon. I've taken it apart and put it back together already for examination. It is almost pristine. There is a barely noticeable drag line on the cylinder, and a couple of dings on the grips, which are very dark, but not dirty or worn. Internally it is perfect. I doubt...

    Pocket/Muff gun

I'm pretty sure it is an American-made knock off of an Allen & Thurber. Someone suggested it is an Allen & Thurber made without markings so it could be sold by a different retailer, but I don't think the quality is good enough.

    Pocket/Muff gun

Took the tape off the grips. One was split in half, top to bottom. Repaired it.

    Pocket/Muff gun

Not sure. I'd hate to have it blow up in my hand.

    Pocket/Muff gun

Picked this up at my favorite LGS today. it is .31 caliber, no markings, in rough shape. I have two different opinions on it from shops that have sold one. One thinks it is late -1830's, patterned after an Ethan Allen. The other thinks it is circa 1850, and likely Belgian. In either case they...

I'm not keeping the brass spacer. It has already been removed.

    One ugly rescue mission

Currently, I'm reshaping the end of the stock, where it meets the nose cap to get rid of that abrupt curve in to meet the nose cap.

    My new toy

I had one of these Pedersoli's for about 45 minutes + 30 seconds. That was the length of the drive home from the gun store, and how long it was before my wife saw it. "I was bad today," I told her. "What did you buy," she asked. I held up the derringer. "Oh, that's adorable," she cooed...

    Actually looks decent.

    One ugly rescue mission

I'm going to have to do that anyway. The replacement nose cap isn't exactly the same length as the original. The nice part is that I can try any number of ideas before actually settling on one.

With the nose cap and the front of the stock in place... I now have this space in the middle of the stock to fill... This is where I am thinking about a spacer of elk horn. I could also go with a spacer of contrasting wood.

    One ugly rescue mission

    I've considered doing that.
