    Hello from Ohio

I saw that (Ohia) once in the winter dark going to work in north central Ohio. It was on an older car that burned oil and had an oil smear up the bumper covering the Ohia on lic. plate onto the trunk lid. Could just make out that it was a MI lic. plate. Laughed all the way to work.

    WANTED Folding Tin Candle Box

I tried that many years ago without much success. Was looking for an 18thc example. An OH museum tried and sent me a tin one but based on a ACW example. The original cost continued to rise considerably over the construction. I was disappointed. I have since found a couple of original European...

    Gun show cannon

I have no proof, but was once told that the 1812 cannons that went down in Erie have rolled around on the bottom of the Lake to where the trunnions have been rolled off?

    Woods Walk course

My 2 cents. Keeping the weeds trimmed is enough work as you age. So steel targets hung on heavy chains helps cut the work.

Early 1700's French "Woods Runner's" Long Arms?

I think these are totals for soldiers, citizens and the Indians combined. Soldiers often brought there fusils from France with them, but a few, very few were recruited from the colonists. and some replacements would be required. The militia were supposed to supply their own arms. But anyone w/o...

Early 1700's French "Woods Runner's" Long Arms?

1683: Regulations required each French merchant ship to carry 12 buccaneer guns to be sold at 15L each to the inhabitants of the various French colonies upon whom they called. (Moller).

Early 1700's French "Woods Runner's" Long Arms?

 1702: 600 hunting muskets with barrels 3’-9” for Canada and Acadia and 5 fine hunting guns for Indian Chiefs, to be provided from renewed 1696 contract for additional 5-years with Tulle. (Bouchard, Museum, p 9, 24)  1702: Things needed for establishment of Mobile River. 2 fusils with their...

    Flintlock Wall Gun Lock

A chevalet or three-legged horse that colipases when picked up. "A Treatise of Artillery by Guillaume LeBlond", 1746, reprinted by Museum Restoration Service, 1970, Page 61 "Of the Arquebuse a Croc" and Plate X, Fig. 2. Poor dog.

    Flintlock Wall Gun Lock

Yes, tell her that is important. Just recently gave my original blunderbuss wall gun to our son. So we are good here. You can buy insurance in one of the N-E States as protection for attack from French and Indians. But not as must fun as a wall gun! Doc Shaffer Les compagnies du Détroit

    Best Shot You Ever Had

My best was a little different. Had an original, not marked, but probably a Wm. Antes as side opening patch-box profile matched a marked wender by him. It had been recently relined (was years ago before good reproductions were available). I had not shot it. Was out carrying it near our farm...

    Belt Hooks On Pistols

Belt hooks. Have had or have some pistols with belt hooks. All were a joke, except the French marine pistol. And I had it come loose from my belt once. Belt hooks are generally too short. Had a Scots pistol drop off in the woods w/o realizing it (a friend found it, so I did recover it). So if...

    WANTED Hard plastic rifle case

When we went to Louisbourg, stove pipe was recommended. The heavier type works best. Tape the joints with duct tape and get stove pipe end caps. The soft case inside is a good idea.

    Hearing protection

Once I discovered that you could tune out ringing in the ears, I concentrated on it and it stopped in less than a year. My wife claims that I also tune her out. It is not true but may be a side effect of the process. Good luck.

    Hearing protection

Are your cicadas the same as what is called ringing in the ears? I had the ringing in the ears and read that you can tune it out. When I found that out; I worked on it and less that a year it was gone. Maybe you can do the same.

    Coach Protection Gun

I do not see a ramrod? And by the looks of it, does the barrel unscrew in the middle?
