    Don't know if it's been mentioned or not and just my 2 cents worth I always heard Rogers and Spencer were better than both , I do like the feel of a 1860 Colt , but I know the 1858 Remington will handle some heavy loads with no problem.

    I , as others have mentioned used the fingernail/thumbnail test ,if you can mark it/leave a indentation in it it's good to go for muzzle loader.

    RWS products are in my experience are superior to others of similar types. They were the first to have noncorrosive priming in centerfire cartridges. I wish all their products were still imported into the US.
