    Flintlock vs Percussion

I prefer percussion, because underhammer flint guns are real hard to come by. I do own flint rifles and pistols, and underhammers. Almost forgot, I also have a mule ear. I like them all. Michael

Why are or aren't you an NMLRA member?

Dear Sir, Who died and left you in charge of what is and isn't HC and PC? More importantly who are you to say how people spend their money on their sport? I have read a lot of your posting and I can't figure out if you really shoot any muzzle loader. Do you or are you an internet expert. What is...

long range shooting with patched round ball

Are you talking about a musket? Shooting bullet? If yes. I don't have a clue, however shooting round balls at 200 yds is very difficult. My question to Ron is/was is he talking about shooting his bullet gun. The is a big difference between shooting round balls and bullets/slugs. I do know musket...

long range shooting with patched round ball

Hi Ron Are you still shooting paper patched slugs? Have you tried round ball at 200 or 300 yards? Not trying to be a pain, I think your writing about long shooting is great. I have done a little 200 yd shooting and have had some success, but it was with a 35 lbs bench rifle. 54 cal, 175 grains...

    NMLRA Western

Hi, Not a big deal about the numbers. They are low no matter where people come from. I will be getting in contact with the President about what they are thinking and give my 2 cents worth and offer my help in planning something. Michael

    NMLRA Western

Hi The numbers I got were a little surprising 39 Az, either 13 or 19 Ca, sorry don't remember. Mostly people east of the Mississippi. The Az number really surprised me. I think most of the problem is/was no one in the West really took owner ship. Michael

    volume measure accuracy

Wow, now I am really confused! You check your measure for calibration? Why do you think target shooter weigh their charges. No matter what kind of device is used it is difficult to get charges exactly the same each time for hunting, woods walks, some off hand shooting it does not matter one or...

    Single Shot Percussion Target Pistols

Saw handle type pistol are allow at NMLRA matches, just not in " Kentucky" matches. Saw handle pistols have a real advantage over Kentucky pistols most people I know who shoot both rarely shoot near the same type of scores with their traditional pistols. I am not a pistol shooter by any mean...

    NMLRA Western

Hi, I just got home from the Idaho State Championship and NMLRA Territorials. I will send some emails and make a couple of phone calls later today. Sad news from Idaho this was their last one, not from the lack of shooters, but in fighting between clubs over the use of the range. I will post...

Your are right, minute of dead animal close is OK, minute of x ring does! Shouting from the mountain top won't change there is a difference between hunting accuracy and target accuracy. Michael
