    Nice shooting!

I forget the balls and have a pleasant suprise

That is really cool. Thanks for posting. I just finished building a Lyman GPR and just did my first range session the other day with PRB. So far so good. I only shot one group just to put it on paper. That encourages me to pick up some bullet molds as well (especially used ones on the cheap)...

    Recommened Capper

I have the Rifleman one in the link below. The snail one is great also. I use mine all the time, range, woods or shooting events. http://www.trackofthewolf.com/categories/partList.aspx?catID=1&subID=1&styleID=1

far from done but getting excited!

+1 on thanks for posting all the pictures. Great gun, I can't wait to see it finished. I love the fact that you plan on using the heck out of it. I hate safe queens of any variety, guns were meant to be used.....period!

    Honkey's Lyman G P R Build

I had a ton of fun doing this one and I am already looking and scheming the next one. I may have to limit myself to building only one each winter!!! Otherwise I would run out of room in my gun safe pretty quick.

    Southern Mountain Rifle build

    Honkey's Lyman G P R Build

Zonie, No offense taken at all. In fact now I have a better understanding as to what happened with my barrel and patchbox. Also I know what do do if I want to get rid of the copper look and brown it for real. For right now I am gona bear the northern Maine elements and try and...

    Honkey's Lyman G P R Build

Thanks for all the kind words and advice as he build progressed. It did not come out "perfect" but I am more than happy with the results and had a blast doing it. I spent every spare minute I had in the last few weeks building it and could not put it down. BEST THINGS... ....the fact that...

    Honkey's Lyman G P R Build

Well I took the barrel back out to my barn and gave it 2 more treatments of browning. I was not sure if I needed to at first but I am glad I did. I know some people will hate the inconsistent finish I got but I love the copper like tones that came out on parts of the finish. Copper tone...

far from done but getting excited!

So far so good. I just finished my first build and I think I am hooked. WANT SOME ADVICE FROM A NOVICE??? Have fun with it and you will enjoy building it, and shooting with it. If you torture yourself over making the gun "perfect" this won't be a fun project and will turn in to work. My Dad...

    Powder Horn and other stuff

The weather in the Northern part of the state is typically cold and snowy 5 months out of the year. This year was a non winter. BUT normally we get over 200 inches of snow and fall starts in August and spring is not until May. It is a nice state if you don't mind winter, and like the...

    Honkey's Lyman G P R Build

Degreased and browned the parts again (and again and again) Browned parts drying on stove NOTE, I did not heat the parts on the stove to brown them, I dried them there tonight after washing them thoroughly with soap and water before oiling them. The stock is done with a total of 6 coats...

    Another day at the range

Nice, great gun with classic design and lines yet wonderfully efficient and effective. Are you going to put blood on the ground with this rifle or is it a range gun??

    new rifle

You might want to use a .530 ball?? Lee makes a nice double mold that casts .530 balls.

    GPR off-hand range report!

That is great shooting!! I am building a GPR right now in .54. If I may ask what did you not like about the Lyman trigger?? The set trigger seems plenty light for target work.
