    Simple question…..

As has been pointed out by Flint1 and Smo, - it is the black powder fouling that soaks up moisture, and gunks up. And finely made flintlock can be near waterproof; some of the old flint duelling pistols would fire after being fully immersed in a bucket of water! But their pan and frizzen were...

    The Sherriff got it done!

I had a friend years ago who used his "Super Fantastical" .30 cal Magnum on a broadside shot at a standing deer...literally sucked the lungs out the exit hole. The deer still ran 30 yards. You did yourself proud! Richard/Grumpa

    Zoli 1803 NIB

I just came across this thread. I, too, have a Zoli 1803 H F, that I bought new in 1976. It is also stamped Navy Arms on the lockplate. The barrel is 35 1/2" long, and .58 caliber, as N A used the same barrels they used on their Civil War muskets, just changing the exterior. The fellow I bought...

Celt 5494 and Mle 1822, Thank you both for your responses, and the effort you put into researching this matter. I, too, wondered about the spelling (ß), and I looked for museums in HAßFURT, but nothing seemed appropriate. I am reluctant to ask some church member to track the name when I have...

German Jaeger rifle by Martin Diem In Hasfurt

I cannot find any information on the maker of this nice flintlock Jaeger. Hasfurt ( also "Ss" or "ß") is in Bavaria, Germany. But no information on Martin Diem. It also has an attachment at the muzzle for a bayonet or hunting sword? Sorry, I didn't get a photo of the whole rifle. Brokennock...
