    Different caps "now",,,

Depending on the firearm, caps can make a difference. I have a light bench rifle and at 100yds it went from shooting 10's to 8's and 7's just by going from CCI regular caps to CCI Magnum caps. The bad news is that it was in the middle of a match

How many of you shoot a 12 gauge?

I have a 13 gage double bbl flint shotgun. Use for dove, turkey and pheasants.

CLOSED SxS percussion shotgun. 12 or 20ga.

I have a Pedersoli 12 gage cylinder and cylinder. This is their lighter weight model made in 1977. Haven't shot it in 20+ years as I have a dbl bbl flintlock 13 gage. I would take 425 for it. It is in very good condition. Only issue is that the right hammer has been broken and properly...

    62 cal loads

My 62 flinter likes 160 gr FFg for the big load(1650fps) and I like 80 gr for 25 and 50 yd shooting. Somewhere inbetween should be a sweet spot for the rifle.

Need info on ID, WY, UT, AZ, & CO

Wyoming rules are at least a 40 cal with at least 50 grs of blackpowder or equivelent. Thats it!! for elk and deer and moose bear and all. However, be aware that wyo does not have a muzzleloading season in almost all areas and you will have to hunt with the regular rifle hunters. Othern

    Tent flooring

If being Period correct is needed then this will not work, otherwise go to your local billboard company and ask about a used outdoor billboard they have taken down. Bill board advertisments are now printed on big sheets of super strong plastic and are white on the back and can be cut to fit any...

    low vent hole?

If the hole is as you say, just below the top of the pan, it is in the proper place I would say. If it is down at the bottom of the pan, I still would not relocate it before shooting it. I have a 45 cal flinter that the hole is at the bottom of the pan. It goes off as fast as my other ones...

Turkey Huntin is gonna be tough

Turkey season opens on sat. Gonna be tough this year. Snow is still very deep in the hills and the turkeys are still down low on private land where no hunting is allowed. Snowing out right now again. Was over in the black hills on tus and wed hunting horns and scouting turkeys. Saw 300+...

    Cut patches

Try wrapping 0000 steel wool as tightly as possible around your jag and polishing the bbl for about one song on the radio. This has been useful for me on some of my barrels. Othern

    TURKEY!

Starts Apr 12th in the Wyo side of the Hills. Going over this weekend to check things out. Most of the turkeys are still down low as the winter has had a lot of snow this year. Can't wait to get one over the bbls of my 13 gage flinter. Othern

    10x10 Pyramid - Big Enough??

I have spent many a night in a 8x8 pyramid tent with another person and gear and found it adequate. I have a 12x12 and it is great for 2 on cots plus a wood heating stove for elk hunting, so would guess a 10x10 would be fine. Othern

cal. 50 Getz barrel (need help)

I have a getz 50 cal with round bottom rifling. In my experience round bottom rifling usually needs thicker patching. I use 28Ths denim with a 490 rb. 495's don't do as well in my rifle. I also use 80 gr of FFG. BTW my round bottom rice in a 40 cal also needs thicker patching than my other...

    Gator 4F or Goex?

Gator Priming powder is safe and OK. It is Elephant powder. It is unscreened and has more fines in it than 4F which is supposed to make it better. I personally can not tell the difference. It is uncoated and will gum up faster in wet weather than Goex 4F. The powder vendor at western...

How far do you carry a traditional hunt?

All This is a very interesting topic. Myself I have hunted in Wyo with a flinter for 25+ years. Wyo has no muzzleloading season. I do wear orange as it is required. I go completely primitive when I feel like it. Damn cold in Nov in total primitive gear. I wear modern clothes when I feel...

Stupid BP Comments At The Shooting Range

One of the more "interesting places" I have shot my flintlock was at an indoor shooting range. I was in Tacoma with my son and his wife's father. He wanted to shoot a muzzleloader and I had my 1803 harpers ferry with me, so he called the local gun range where he shot pistol. They said come on...
