If you could change one thing about muzzleloading...

Dear Mr. G.W.I have to agree with most of the post on this topic, I too have an issue with flinters vs. cap locks. I, myself shoot a cap lock and cherish the time I can squirrel away from lifes demands to shoot "Tink", that's my rifle. If I could change one thing about our devotion to shooting...

    Question concerning 54 Cal.

I shoot a Lyman GP in a .54 caliber and enjoy shooting it. I wouldn't worry about the 1:60 twist it stabilizes the PRB real well. I personally shoot 80 grains of Goex ff and .530 PRB with mink oil lube and have a 2 inch minus group at 50 yards.

Is this "normal", or, do I have a problem?

Sorry, But anyone who tries to live with an addiction to black powder shooting will never be " alright". The good news is that you will only live till you die and the undertaker will work his butt off trying to get smile off your face. So with that being said and using my PHD(Post hole digger)...

    Sealing a powder horn

Hello the Camp, In regards to sealing a powder horn, I put some bees wax pellets through the spout and then decided to heat it in a pan of hot water. Before putting it in water I put a sandwich baggie over the plug to keep the horn dry. It done a real good job of melting the wax, but be warned...

    Patched Ball accuracy @ 100yds

Greetings Mr. Melnic, I too shoot a .54 Lyman Great Plains, 1/60 twist. I have found that shooting a PRB .530 with .018 patching gives me my best grouping @ 100 yds. I asked an "Old Smoke pole hunter" if that was enough for elk @ 100 yds. His reply was " Son at 100 yards that load would go...

    Finding fellow shooters

I was just wondering if there are any smokepole shooters in eastern Wyoming. I live on the Nebraska east of Lusk, Wyoming and haven't had much luck in finding any fellow shooters. I wouldn't mind joining a brigade if they was close enough. Of course in Wyoming a 100 miles is considered close...
