    Illinois ML Season

I have heard it mentioned increased bag limits on deer in Illinois has less to do with game management and more to do with number of insurance claims paid out for car/deer collisions by politically connected insurance companies. That's just heresay you understand but this is the Land of...

    Illinois ML Season

May be a little harder to fill a tag this year.First season reports show the deer harvest is way down over last year.I wonder if the drought last year has effected the deer population more than thought. "The preliminary harvest total of 55,708 for the first three days of the 2013 firearm...

    coming lead shortage

That article is slightly misleading. The Doe Run smelter operation is a refining smelter, they turn raw ore into refined lead. There are approximately,at last count, about 16 recycling smelters operating in the U.S.that said,I still hoard lead. The writings on the wall, backdoor gun control,no...

    "Original" axe...

The advantage of using a steel bit in a wrought body was that it conserved what was,at the time,a scarce and costly imported commodity. It was a matter of cost as much as anything. The poll headed axe was an American development,it started appearing about 1750 maybe as early as 1740 depending on...

    Livingstone in East Africa 1871

You have to keep in mind that Livingstone left England in 1866 on the expedition that found him in Africa in 1871.Some references mention him carrying a 6 shot revolver and a double rifle at different periods. His 1871 diary mentions ordering caps and flints from Zanzibar-...
