What are your specific offhand shooting exercises if you do any?

Practice, practice, practice. Get a decent wood stocked (so it has some weight) pellet rifle with open sights and shoot at home when you can't get to a range. Put a target on the wall shoulder your ML rifle acquire the sight picture, let down wait a minute and repeat.

    Lack of younger shooters?

Hey Grant, I was one of the old guys at the match Saturday, it was great to have you and your Dad out there. I didn't start shooting BP until my 30's (I'm 64 now) life was just in the way. Both of my sons are now in their 30's although they like to hunt and shoot they have other interests and...

    Capper anyone ?

I've been using the same Ted Cash oval capper since the early '80's it hasn't caused me any issues in all that time. Dump the caps in and gently shake it side to side with the lid open most caps will right themselves those that don't I just flip over with my patch knife.

What did I do wrong with GPR

Too much swabbing between shots. In my early '80's GPR I use Goex 2F, 495 ball and 15 thou pillow ticking. I can go at least 10 shots before running a cleaning patch, when on a woods walk I sometimes go 15 or 20 shots and just clean it when I'm done. I use MAP to clean and the dreaded WD40 to...

    .50 Dixie Tennessee

You can't go wrong with the Dixie Tennessee I have one in flint and one in percussion hands down they are my favorite. They both sight the same and shoot better than I do. Off the bench it's one raged hole, offhand though it depends on what day it is.

    Grease Holes?

The Dixie Tennessee Mountain rifles all had the grease hole in the butt stock. However I don't use mine for greasing patches. When I am on a woods walk or at rendezvous I usually spit patch. When at the range I have a bottle of lube that I use.
