Since I do 90% of my shooting from the bench. I think that this would at least help in getting a shooter close to the 10 ring at 100 yds.
I agree with powder loads and sight heights playing a role in the final results.
If a person has access to a cornograph, I believe that this would save a lot...
Am inquiring about 50 Cal ballestics (velocity, a foot pounds & bullet drop at different yardage.
Found several showing the same weight of projectile and same powder charge.( 230 gr conical & a velocity of 1745 fps ) However the bullet drop was shown to be different on some charts.
According to...
Hello everyone,
Have approx: 20 LBS of #6 chilled lead shot.
Was wondering since I no longer have a shotgun, thinking about melting it down into ingots. Later using it to mold up some round balls.
Is it a hard lead or a soft lead?
Thanks,
Vearl
Have a 50 cal T.C. New Englander.
The rear sight is adjustable, by screwing the adjustment screw up or down.
Need to know how far up or down each elevation click produces in POI at 25 yds, 50 yds and 100 yds.
Can't find any other helpful resourse to answer the question.
Thanks.
I have had both a 58cal and a 54cal Renegade. they are good strong hunting rifles. A little more heavy than what I like.
Sold the 58cal and kept the 54cal.
I wouldn't worry to much about the additional screw holes as long as it doesn't cause a safety problem.
Might want to consider in browning...
Ordered .015 patching from TOTW. I got .012 patching.
Will use it for my 36 cal.
Will go to my local fabric store for .015 patching. Won't have to pay that high shipping cost either.
I have about 4 or 5 of them running around here all of the time. Same number of does.
Now bear in mind that I live in a housing addition and no hunting allowed here. However next to the addition, I have permission to hunt a 1/2 mile square of land. Needless to say that is where my food plot and...
I'm having problems with CCI # 11 Magnum caps being to small to fit my nipple. They are to small.
Recall an earlier thread where someone else is having the same problem.
Checked my nipple and it is ok. Gotta be the caps.
I just finished molding up a batch of 58 ca. round balls from pure lead.
I used the J. Tanner .570 round ball mold.
I cut the lead sprue off with my metal nippers. However there is still a small part still sticking up on each one. Thinking that this piece would cause accuracy problems.
How does...
I'm getting real close to that 70 mark. Had issues with my T.C. Renegade 54 Cal deer rifle. The sight is so thick that I covered the target instead of seeing it at 100 yds. Plus my eyes are not and I repeat not what they once were.
Instead of quitting hunting deer, I went against popular...
It is a T.C. 58 CAL. Renegade.
I'm loaning a 54 cal Renegade to a friend to use this year. Plus all of the powder, round balls, percussion caps, etc.
He has not been blackpowder hunting before. So it is a learning experience for him.
Being an older gentleman with some disability, I will put him...
In my 56 Cal T.C. smoothbore, shoot 80 Gr. of 2F powder next comes a O/P card, then a .550 RB wrapped in .015 pillow ticking. Shot as well as my rifles at 50 yds.
Mostly use my smoothbore firing #6 shot. Deadly on tree rats and rabbits at 25 yds.
I think that they used what they had on hand to hunt with.
Not everyone had the money to have a separate gun to hunt each type of animal.
I personally think that they had smoothbore rifles that could be used with shot or roundball.
When rifling came into being, then you would probably see...
