    Elk antler powder horn

wanted a small flat horn for my .36 and couldn't find a horn that I wanred to flatten but found an Elk antler that was only 1" thick and about 2 1/2" wide so hollowed it out, holds enough for 33 shots. More than I usually shoot when out for a hike. What do you think? Deadeye

    2011 Mule Deer

Got this 4x3 on the 2nd morning of the hunt 9/29 on a beautiful day at about 9000 ft. The .50 cal. ball did a perfect job, in one side out the other. He took 3 or 4 steps and piled up. Slipped right up on 5 or 6 Deer feeding, not more than 25 or 30 yds. from them and while watching them this...

    more braggin rights

This yr. at the Beaver Creek rondy there was only room for 1 set of targets for pistol and rifle which made some of them very long for a pistol. The last target was a small oxygen cylinder, black with a yellow strip around the center at what i figured was over 200 yds. I had never shot my...

    crooked crooked ramrod

Was about a mile or so from my truck when i shot my 1st rockchuck and found my ramrod was back at the truck. I could see 2 chucks peeking over the rocks at me as I cut this limb off a willow. It was crooked as a snake but real limber. Very carefully I pushed that prb down hoping not to break it...

    added serpentine to handgonne

I originally made my handgonne with a side touchhole so i could sight along the barrel using a fuse so when I decided i wanted a serpentine I also had to make a pan to hold some powder. The pan also swivels up to cover the touch hole when loading. Works great and even though the pan powder...

    Calico horn

That's what a friend called it "calico" when he gave it to me a week or so ago, better than "Spot" ,anyway, kind of an interesting pattern. I kinda like it. Walnut plug, a little carving, no room for scrimming. A good excuse to make another pouch to attach it to.

There's parts of a Renegade in there but once I Put the GM .62 smoothie(now turned down to 1/2 oct 1/2 round)and the Pecatonica stock and the brass ramrod and a triggerguard that I liked that only left the trigger and lock of the Renegade. This stock handles so much better than the original...

    patch material

I use nothing but pillow ticking and think thats the best or at least something with a tight weave but over the weekend I was shooting next to a top shooter at Ft. Flint, chert, agate, etc.

While in the Mts. last week I picked up this flint, chert, agate, jasper, whatever, it throws great sparks. The smaller flatter pieces only have to have a flat edge knapped on them to work. Some of the black stuff looks almost like the black english flints. The red stuff I can find down here in...
