    J. P. Beck Rifle Need Help Please

Very true, but keep in mind that in Europe many bp guns are much much more expensive. For example CVA Hawken cost used but in very good condition about $800.00 in Germany, Uberti Walker about $725.00 in Poland. Just the way it is.

    Walker vs. Dragoon

Hello Would anyone know where I could get the loading lever catch for ASM Dragoon or something similar to be fitted?

    Flintlock Supplies

Track of the Wolf for sure. Few months ago I ordered a ramrod and they shipped it in usual fashion attached to a flat piece of lumber. Unfortunately usps driver tried to fold the package and broke both. I called Dave to notify him about this situation and he said there is no point arguing with...

    PA longrifle

Recently I saw two flintlocks with Wm Large's barrels, both had just a simple carving behind the cheekpieces and overall condition of both was about 95% with barely visible minor scratches and patina on the barrel. Locks looked like a large Silers on both. Both with brass furniture and...

    Thompson worth

Here in CT I've seen brand new sold for 400-425.00 so not much especially when Cabelas was charging around 750-800 for one. Used about 150-250 depending on the condition. Good luck with the project

    browning over blue

I use airplane stripper from Autozone. Finish comes off like crazy. Be careful when you do it since it's highly acid-like and smell is terrible. Mask, thick rubber gloves and ventilated area are a must. Another way is to use steel wool, scotch brite works like a dream or just a wet sandpaper...

And so the wait begins ;)

Lucky me, my wife just bought a SLR camera. The weather is incredibly cold, windy, rainy, snowy and bad overall here in CT for the pictures. I will try to take some nice shots in the next few days as it is a truly magnificient piece although I was suprised by some details. I will post more info...

    Flintlock Wisdom & Direction Needed

Searching for a rifle is a lot of fun. I can recommend only one thing: to wait. I've been where you are and totally understand the situation. What kills everything is the lack of patience. I've spent well over 2000.00 buying used production guns and let me tell you, while it did the job and kep...

    Frist time shooting Cabelas Hawken

You can find a bunch of parts, ramrod and patchboxes on ebay for a few bucks. Sometimes people take apart entire rifle and sell it in pieces. I got many replacements/extras for a fraction when compared to some sites. Good luck

    ross westgate rifles anyone ?

Hello One of my good friends has one and we hunt together in our local forest. He has a Bucks in .50. Very nice looking and shooting rifle. Quality is there, but Tip Curtiss or Mike Lange pull great quality at lower dollar. Mr Westgate's carvings are very pretty and much attention is given to...

    Civil War gun?

Like I said many times before- thank God we have a forum like this. I'm in the beginning process of learning even though I shoot these muzzies for past 9 years. I promised that I'll look into it and I did. Thanks to you all for a great input and help with digging. Too bad less and less people...

    Civil War gun?

Thank you gentlemen. I knew I would learn few new things again ;) Here is what I received last night: Mike, I looked at your musket and what you have appears to be an "African Trade Musket". These muzzle loading muskets were made in Belgium from surplus musket parts in and made specifically...

    Civil War gun?

Thank you for the information. I got my info from Gregory Edington who used to sell Lorenz repros in kit form. There is a very large article on the web regarding Lorenz guns and him. And yes, I meant 1841 not mississippi. Thank you again. I'm interested in historic value of this gun, however the...

    Civil War gun?

Yes sir. Dry fired only. It's not mine, but a friend's of mine. He was told this story by one of his relatives. I don't buy it really, because Lorenz (if it is Lorenz) muskets were dressed in iron. I don't see any rifling in it, no. Ramrod appears to be a simple cut branch, that's about it...

    Civil War gun?

I thought it was Lorenz due to resemblence but wasn't sure. He wants to sell this gun because he's saving up for a custom flintlock. Any ideas what something like this could be worth? If they were imported in large quantities I'm guessing not much.
