A vintage Sheffield knife - flea market find I hope to “restore”

I also was thinking tableware, but being able to sew the entire blade would be good.

A first attempt at a Gourd Canteen

Interesting.... I wish you had mentioned this in your original reply.... Totally different animal, a pipe versus a water bottle,,,,, and a different but interesting subject. I'd certainly like to know more, but it is a subject for another topic thread. It also would have tempered your very...

Why does the stone need a wrap?

Very good answer. It also accounts for irregularities in the shape of the flint. I'd imagine that a nice flat flint, squared off across the top, will hold okay in the flint jaws bare. But that isn't the reality of most flints, unless using those weird sawn agate "flints."

A first attempt at a Gourd Canteen

Hmmm,,,, thousands of years of use... Many, many people here reporting successful use over the years... Never heard of anyone having an issue with mold growth in a gourd water bottle. I've heard of it in other period material containers,,, I've even had it happen in a leather "bots bottle." But...

On the wall or on your neck?

Then I would feel sorta comfortable leaving the hornhim flask home.... Or maybe in the truck just in case. On the very, very, rare occasion I use paper cartridges, I still prime from the horn so have to have it. I suppose I could put a small flask or so called "priming horn" in my pouch or...

Loading down for a .62 flinter

1st off as full disclosure, my two .62 guns are smoothbore and I have no 100 yard hunting desires or opportunities. But maybe given the increased accuracy of the rifled bore, some of the smoothbore load data will prove helpful, at least as a starting point. (Also there are a lot more folks...

On the wall or on your neck?

When/where? Doing what? Hunting? Shooting at the range? How far from the truck, how far from home? A shot pouch without a horn riding with it is just a purse 👛. 😉

    Smooth bore recoil?

I've noticed a difference. With the rifle, if using similar ball and powder charges, having more felt recoil. But, I've noticed far more effect on felt recoil difference in felt recoil being dictated by stock design and fit. With the differences between felt recoil and generated recoil having...

My wife is a keeper!! View the Hudson Bay blanket gun cover she made.

Pretty nice. English is a funny language...... And we are an odd lot with funny terminology. By your title I wasn't sure if I was going to see a blanket cover for a so called "blanket gun," or a gun cover made from a Hudson Bay blanket 😄😄😄

    Bear Face Bag

Very interesting. Do you have any other pics, that might give us a sense of scale for when it is in use? Would also love to see the buckle... Thanks for sharing.

The Search for a Vintage Cornbread

Interesting. I am going to look for that, but, keep in mind, the corn of the time, especially the Indian corn used for partying and trail food, was not "sweet corn." It was not the corn most people enjoy today. It was higher in protein and lower in sugar.

Adding brass endcap to Woodsrunner patchbox.

Yes, there are two other topic threads about it just that part of the build. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/a-peripheral-part-of-a-kibler-woodsrunner.162580/ https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/attaching-brass-to-a-colonial-patch-box.176568/

    Spiderman317 Tool Tote.

Yup, you picked the right man for the job. That came out great. I have one of his boxes and would like two more someday.... I could be tempted by one of those totes too, 😆
