    Heavy Bench Guns

I'm not there yet for glasses, tho I am beginning to notice some difficulty adjusting from tv to iPad and back. Is that how it starts?? Keeper is a good word. Now on my other 2 slug guns there is a mechanical starter that also keys into the "kept" false muzzle. My assumption was that these 2...

    Heavy Bench Guns

Thank you^ I have 7 or 8 with false muzzles. On several of them there is a swinging latch to keep the false muzzle in place for transport/movement/pulling rod etc. This is one of the guns with that. If you look at the picture you can see the latch engaged in pins with short starter in muzzle...

    Heavy Bench Guns

Thank u Someone smarter than me could probably tell what the pins are 1/3 of barrel length away from muzzle. There are 2 pairs, first and close to muzzle hold false muzzle. Second set???? Funny thing is the orientation of pins are not at 3 o'clock and. 9 o'clock ( where front sight is at 12)...

    Heavy Bench Guns

Sorry, tried to edit, mistake. Mule was another rifle. The Pierce is standard percussion, 1860 ish. Still shooting well in the 1940's and 60's as shown. The bank token rear peep is unique. Front sight has changeable apertures(in box to right in last pic) Anyway, cool historic piece. Wish...

    New smallbore (.20 cal)

^ yep, patching a bb is fun. I have used the steel ones, haven't tried lead bb in 177 yet. As far as the gong that was a one shot deal. I wasn't expecting the damage. Mostly I use this on caps, cans, bottles and the errant leaf. A great Woods toy

    New smallbore (.20 cal)

Thx Keb for chiming in!! Took it out today to lay waste to some cans, bottles and random obtrusive leaves. No real leading to speak of, a streak here and there that cleaned up easily at end. I may try a wad at some point. I will let accuracy determine how I load in the end. Whole Woods kit...

    New smallbore (.20 cal)

Builder is JR Salvo, he has since passed. From what I have read, he was a specialist in small bore guns. He made everything on the rifle, lock, stock and barrel. Barrel is 5/8" x45" pull is 13 7/8. I don't know how far it will shoot accurately yet, I was just testing g for energy and function...

    New smallbore (.20 cal)

So I got a new flintlock. .20 caliber, weight is about 7 lbs, Balance is perfect. Slim and points like a dream. Barrel is 5/8." Shot it for the first time this weekend. Instead of going with .177 w patch I went with .22 pellet in this style. The steel BB aids in penetration. Not sure of...

    Scale dictator mortar

Traded a small cannon away for this. I have been playing with some loads. Note, these are for my mortar only! My fun load was about 1oz BP and a concrete soda can, streamers added so the eye can follow. I did use 2oz, once. The report was impressive but finding the can the back 40 no luck...
