    TVM finish aged or browned.

I paid lots extra for fancy wood. Upon advice from TVM had the stock stained dark. Waste of money, can't see the grain. My finish is browned. Looks way to new and pretty. However, the way she shoots, I don't care what it looks like. This one's a keeper.

Cleaning the TVM flintlock with the bolt on flint flush kit

I switched to Dutch's nearly waterless cleaning system. Fast, sparkling bore, no rust ever.

What is your barrel length choice?

My all time favorite barrel length is the one I'm shooting. Or possibly the next one.

    New guy questions

FDC, your cheapest solution is to get rid of that accursed thing before addiction sets in. If you are already hooked, oh well and welcome.

    tc seneca 36cal.

Look at the lock mortis of your stock. You will likely be able to see where the lock was shimmed using some kind of glue/epoxy. Most of my TCs are that way from the factory. If the shim or shims are missing, put a bit of mold release agent on the lock (coat everything unless you want a real...

What solution/process works best for oxidation removal?

At our age, I doubt if exposure really matters. :rotf:

    New ROA

Ruger stopped production of the ROA in 2008, Bill Ruger died in 2002. So how is He a moron for quitting production "like he did"? Just wondering.

    Round ball question

Assuming an average of 10 rounds shot at each outing (I normally shoot much more that 10) and assuming 150 range days a year (I have my own range and shoot more than that) a conservative estimate would be 1,500 ball per year. Thank goodness that in the real world I get to shoot a lot more that...

    Next Cap and Ball revolver?

Assuming that 5 pounds refers to two Army revolvers, that weight on a proper belt is not a problem. My duty belt weighed a darned site more than that, and I carried that for 31 years. The key is to use a proper gun belt.

    Carrying Horn and Bag Together?

I seem to recall reading, many years ago, of frontiersmen being able to top off their powder supply at Inns.

    Next Cap and Ball revolver?

If you really are going to use them for that application then there is only one choice, get another of what you already have. When the chips are down is not the time to deal with different weapons. KISS, or else.

    India made Brown Bess.

Track of the Wolf has their kit Brown Bess for $720. To my mind that's a no brainer.

    T/C Hawken accuracy

For many years I have been a spot and stalk hunter. Now that I find myself in Iowa with only 25 acres to hunt I'll have to change my tactics. Several times this season I failed to close to within shooting distance and ran out of real-estate. The fact that I use a smoothbore flintlock with...
