Texas - Denton, Krum, Decatur, Sanger area

Well I've been to an event with these folks, and you might want to visit with them before calling them names. They are a really good group of people. They want you to dress period for the rendezvous. I'm pretty sure you wont need period attire for the monthly shoots. Most every muzzleloading...

    Fire striker kit

I saw an old newspaper ad for them, but I'm not sure where that paper was from. Also, I'd seen a few reproductions and took the idea and made my own copies.

Dye the back of shoulder straps?

I have done it both ways, actually. I usually ask the customer now if they want the strap or even the bag dyed. It seems to me that the back of the strap takes a lot more dye to get it looking right. But I prefer mine to not be dyed.

    Throwing hawks

If you are looking for a full size hawk that is still very light weight, try a Beaver Bill hawk. Beaver Bill Throwing Hawks I had the privilege of throwing a couple that belonged to a friend and won a competition with it. I still need to purchase one of my own. They are light weight and...

    A Very Basic pouch

I had sewn a bag up for a gentleman that our organization wanted to honor for his service. It was a very nice bag with an engraving on the flap and everything. I was about to hand it to him when I realized that I had sewn the strap on backwards. Luckily he was nice enough to not say anything and...

    New shot pouch

Pencils work great. On some leather I use a very fine line gel pen as well.

    New shot pouch

When you switch to a little thicker leather and want to showcase that stitching a little more, I would suggest a groover to make a little ditch, if you will, for the stitches to sit down into. This will protect them from surface wear and also makes for a nice even-laying stitch. I've considered...

    New shot pouch

OK here is a little critique, and its not all bad. First of all, your stitching looks pretty much nice and uniform. I'm wondering if you used a groover or a over stitch wheel to lay out the stitches. Next, the design is good. Using the antler button for strap adjustment is a good idea that I...

    Vinegaroon Dye

I always use a bath of baking soda and water to wash off any excess rust, etc and that will neutralize the acidic affects of the vinegar. But to answer the first question, the solution should not be black. I've always strained mine through a couple of coffee filters to get some of that rusty...
