Flash suppressor for a muzzle loader?

Anyone know how I could make a flash suppressor for my 50 cal. Hawkins style rifle? Not interested in a silencer, just looking to hide the flash.

Anyone recognise or have any info about this gun.

Picked this thing up some time back. I am wondering if it is just a wall hanger or if it is even worth fooling with. I do know that it is a cheap Jap repo. Could it be made shootable? Bore is .672 Barrel length is 32.25' muzzle to back of breach. The octagon section is 8" long. Total length is...

    Vent liner size?

Somehow lost the vent liner in my T/C .50 cal. flint lock. Anyone know what the size and thread count is for the liner? I'm figuring on making a new one out of a bolt. It is a kit rifle and I think made in the 70's.

How are round ball molds made?

I haven't been able to find any information about how molds are made. I'm a bit of an amateur machinist and was wondering if the molds are cast, forged, or machined.

    Store bought'en vs. spit patches.

I've always used the expensive store bought pre-lubed patches till yesterday. For the first time, yesterday, I tried spit patches. What a difference! :shocked2: They are the same thickness patches as the prelubed that I've been using. The rifle loaded easier. I never had to swab the barrel...

    TC Hawkins .50 manufacture dates?

I've got a .50 TC Hawkins flinter and have been wondering when it was made. From what I understand, they are no longer made. I'm wondering when they started, and ended, making them, and possibly what the range of serial numbers might be for the flinters.

    Cotton for wads anyone?

As a blank load, I've used plain ole cotton balls. I've haven't tried it yet with a round ball. It seems to work great for blanks. The cotton ball doesn't seem to make it more than 4 or 5 feet out the barrel before it's drifting to the ground. It seems to be a safer blank load than paper even...

    Lock problems

I've got a Traditions Frontier 50 cal. flintlock. Long story short, the lock spend about a month laying in a water puddle and was a rusted beyond repair. I replaced the lock with a new one, and I can't seem to get it to work right. It works fine out of the gun, or with the trigger removed...

    Stupid question time.. cleaning patches

I've been shooting BP for several years and even built a couple of muzzle loaders. In all that time, I've never been around anyone else that shot a front stuffer. Most of what I've learned about them has been just figuring out stuff on my own. This may seem like a really dumb question, but...

C&B revolver, OX-Yoke wads, and Pyrodex pellets

I recently picked up a Pieta 58 Remy. Took it to the range for a little fun yesterday. It turned out not to be so much fun after all. I've always shot Goex in everything before. Figured I would try something different. I bought a can of Pyrodex 30 grain pellets, and a can of OX-YOKE Revolver...
