    Traditions Hawken replacement barrel

I am not set up to thread the barrel for a new plug. I would need to send it out. I have looked at CVA, Investarms as well as a few others but nothing that seems to be a drop in. I may just get a Traditions .50 Kit and do a whole new firearm. I will be looking into how much the breach treading...

    5.5 inch Remington

Glad you guys were talking about this.....I just picked one up today at Cabela's. Hope I don't need a lot of...

    Uberti vs. Pietta

I have 2 Pietta's one Brass 1858 and a newly arrived 1851 in 44 (I know they were only in 36 originally). I also have an older Euroarms Brass 1851 in 36. The 2 Pietta's I bought new and I am very happy with them. The Euro was used but has been a good shooter. My choice of maker has been...

.54 side lock with stuck ball

Don, The Traditions rifles all use a 6x1mm thread on the nipple and there are grease fittings for that thread. Just pick one up at the local auto parts store. I poured about a tablespoon of Breakfree CLP down the bore....after verifying no powder in breech....and let it sit over night. The...

.54 side lock with stuck ball

I had my first dry ball last weekend and had a heck of a time. I could not get it to move with a light powder charge through the nipple channel. I then proceeded to pull the end off my fiberglass ramrod leaving the ball puller and the brass tip in the barrel. It only took me about 30 seconds...

    Places to make smoke......

I need some suggestions from the Ohio members. I moved to the Massillon area a couple of years ago and have not been out to shoot my frontloaders since we moved here. Can someone point me to a good place to shoot. I will be checking out the Log Cabin range but was hoping for an outdoor "open...

    Cabela's BP Revolvers

I own both an 1851 .36 brass and a 1858 Remmie .44 brass both are the Pietta imports. The .36 I have is was built in the 70's and I bought it used and have had 0 issues. The .44 is only a few months old and I haven't fired enough to make an observation yet. I have hear the opinion expressed...

I got a great surprise today! The lovely autumncoyote bought me a pistol today that I don't know a thing about. It is marker "BLACK POWDER ONLY JUKAR 07XXXX SPAIN". It seems to be a .45 cal. It is percussion lock with a engraved pattern that I hope shows up in the photo's. I don't think the...

Ok Guys, I need a little help. I have looked all over the Internet for a left hander for autumncoyote but can't find one. I have found lots of .50 and .54 but she would really like to use a lighter round for killing paper and maybe small game. She has tried my .54 with a 50 gr PRB but finds...

I bought my first cap and ball revolver today :).

Welcome aboard, I have the same pistol as you. Definitly shoot light loads I think traditions says 30 grain BP max but I keep mine at about 24 grains. Accuracy is good. You need to make sure you don't leave any air space between the powder and the ball you can cause over pressure problems...
