    Flying M

Great to meet you Bill. Flying M is always a great time. One of my favorite events of the year.

    My first horn

Is the face a likeness of your friend? That is excellent work. So far, every time I've tried to scrim a face it has been a miserable failure. Maybe I'll try it again...you've inspired me.

    Horn for my brother

I put this leather strap on it. I used to know a guy that made straps... haven't seen him around much lately. Maybe I can get a nicer one later. :idunno: Hope you are well Brett.

    Horn for my brother

Just finished this horn for my brother. His Mountain Man name is "BAM". A tribute to his campfire cooking. The horn was a challenge. Lots of attempts and changes during the process. But I think it all came together in the end.

    Sunday at the Range

manure Kev. Did you have to tell everyone it was 36 years ago. Now everyone will know I'm forty. (I was REALLY smart and I skipped a lot of grades).

    My first horn

Very nice. Better than my first horn... Quite a lot better. I envy horners that have good wood working skill. It gives you a real advantage on the learning curve.

    Sunday at the Range

Glad I was part of it Kev. Good laughs and burning powder. Does it get any better than that??? Jim

    I think it's a keeper

Nice shooting. And a nice looking gun too. Well done.

    First horn

Thank you for the advice Rick. I'll give that a try. Jim

    First horn

I'm no artist so I won't attempt to decorate like some of the Masters I see here... This horn was given to me by my Mother. She said she found it in some of my Dad's old stuff. She said Dad picked it up off the ground while deer hunting. I have no idea how long he'd had it. So I got some...

    Steam?

Very interesting read... My process is to boil water then add it to a bucket with about 2 cups of cleaning solution. I soak the breach end of the barrel in the hot water for about five minutes then work a patch through barrel with the breech end still in the bucket. This pulls the hot soapy...

    Percusion conversion

I know some of you old timers will chide me for asking something stupid... but hey, I'm okay with it. Is it possible to convert a percussion rifle to a flint lock??? I have two .50 cal TC Hawkins rifles. Both of them have a lot of sentimental value to me and I love shooting them...

    Brass furniture/Patina or Shiny ?

I like it patina. I have even gone so far as to remove all the brass pieces from my gun and use Birchwood Casey Gun Bluing to darken it. It turns it a nice dark "antiqued" color. Then I put a coat of clear lacquer over it to keep it that way. The lacquer will work well to protect a polished...

    New guy on the block

Ya.. I found it alright. I went to one of those Mountian Man club shoots. They had a "trail shoot" that I did with my brother. It was the most fun I've had shooting in long time. Then I picked up a BP shotgun... Now I can't stop. It's like a virus or something.
