    Flintlock vs. Caplock?

I've been shooting cappers for 20 years, decided to buy a Great Plains flinter to play around with with my pre 1840 buddies, now I have a flinter being built by TVM because, well,I now like the flint locks better. They are much more fun. They are sexier too.I agree though, with most here.Try one...

loading the 1858 Remington Army ?

Richard, I have to thank you.I followed your instructions and I am having no more problems in assembling the cylinder back into the frame and holding the revolver in my left hand and pointing the barrel to my right made it so much easier. That will be my religious way of doing it from now on. And...

loading the 1858 Remington Army ?

I have a Taylor Arms 1858 Remington Army which I haven't shot much, mainly because I have to fumble for 5 minutes before I can put the cylinder back into the frame after loading it.I've seen men,on you tube, slip it out and slip it in quicker then I can say do it.Is there a big secret to...

    My first picture

Nice job Fly. You have a nice piece of wood there.I think it came out good without the stain of any kind.Just shoot it to break it in,you will have a hundred shots out of it in no time.At least that is what they say that it needs to break it in.I didn't find that with mine though. It shoots...

    Bore Butter

Oh yes,a walk through the barn is the first thing I do on the way to the woods. Our horses and my wife and I have been all over the place around here. We've rode right up on deer,in fact,we rode right up on a buck mating with a doe during rut.Now that was a sight to see when rounding the bend.

    Bore Butter

Ya but......... The wind on my farm, in my Ohio woods, changes direction throughout the day as it meanders it's way through the trees.I don't hunt from a tree stand or a Texas condo with a kitchen overlooking 20 deer at a time coming around to check out the guy wearing aqua velva shaving...

    Bore Butter

Funny thing there flintlock,I have a bottle of the Falkenberry juice that my Dad used 30 years ago.He used it,I never did.It was passed onto me after he passed away.I just might have to give it a try.Maybe then,I won't see so many of those white tails that the deer want to show me all the time...

    Bore Butter

After a life time,I am still experimenting with various lubes.I started out with bore butter and that has the longest run of any of them. The only problem I have with it,is the smell.Oh it smells good but for hunting deer,I leave the stuff at home. The deer have way to much advantage as it is.I do...

    Wooden ramrods?

Many, Thank you for the explanation.I understand now and know what to look for.I am happy that the OP brought up his question because it opened a discussion that I never even gave a thought to.I have, however, had my hand run through with a stick at one time and it is a very painful experience...

How do You Clean Your Fullstock cappers?

True,I have read that soap is a corrosive but then again,I even wonder about using water that goes through a water softner like I have.Something that I have often wondered about.I sure do make sure the bore is totally dry before I run a patch with Barricade down the bore.Hopefully that will...
