    Barrel help

Eric borescoped the barrel for me today and it appears to be unused with some surface rust. It just needs a good cleanup with scotchbrite. I haven’t checked yet nut it appears to be a pretty fast twist. Deerstalkert that is really nice but I don’t have to worry about my sweetheart. I have never...

    Gardening Round2 Deer problem

I’ve posted it a few times before and here it is for what it’s worth. I’ve used it and it has worked for me and I would like to know if it works for others. A raw egg mixed with a quart of warm water strained through a wire sieve. Let it sit ou for a day to "ripen". It has worked on okra, field...

    Barrel help

No borescope and with the patent breech can’t get much light in it but just inside the muzzle looks unfired. The threads and the bottom of the nipple hole are bare metal with no rust. Outside of barrel has rust like any barrel that has been in a damp place with no protection.

    Barrel help

First of all ID, then what would you suggest building with it? What lock would be suitable with this patent breech? Here is all I can determine about it. .45 cal, muzzle to breechplug, about 33”, no front dovetail, one lug on bottom flat, I’m sure it has never been fired, 6x1mm nipple breech...

    Grandpa stories

Mine, we called him Dad, as did my Dad and my uncles, is the stories of hunting when a kid. The best was of the last deer he had seen in this area. It was just before he went to France in WWI. The first I saw was about 5 yrs after he died (1964) in 1969. More than 50 years.

    Trip to Dixie

Hoping to start on a trade gun in the not far distant future. Still in the planning, accumulating, mind building stage. Talked my sweetheart into a 3hr trip. We visited the car museum, looked at an unbelievable number of original firearms, shopped the store, talked to a couple of other customers...

Suggestions for 'old time' dark/black stain or dye?

Suggestions for 'old time' dark/black stain or dye?

Heretical, but, alphalt dissolved in a drying oil, that is if you are lookin for something "not modern".It is easily adjusted to the intensity needed. Experiment first to determine drying time. I have seen it used to produce lighter browns all the way to ebony.
