    LMF Brown/BC Plum Brown Request

I'm thinking about redoing some metal parts on a project, maybe a whole rifle, and was hoping to see some good pictures of the finish these two items create. Most (okay, pretty much all) of the results I get running a search focus on the weapon as a whole, but don't really give you much focus...

Left hand replacement lock for GPR

    Is there such a thing?

    Refinishing a GPR

The GPR I bought a few years ago looks to have some pretty nice wood hidden under the factory finish, but I have a few questions about the job. I've redone a lot of M1/1903/etc stocks with great results, but they only had an oil finish, so denatured alcohol and a little sanding did the job...

    200yd holdover?

The calibers are .50 and .54, prb, not max loads but on the muscular side of things. Obviously every gun/load is different and no one can tell me what mine are going to do, but does anybody with any experience at that distance, with those calibers, want to suggest a starting point?

    Swapping barrels

Has anyone had much luck with going back and forth between two barrels on the same TC Hawken stock? Here's the scenario. I have a GM percussion drop-in, and had the old barrel rebored up to .54. Accuracy went to hell for the first dozen or so shots whenever I swapped one out. Once it...

Triple Seven 3f in a .54 load suggestions

I recently got a .54 barrel, and have a lot of 2 and 3f Triple Seven on hand. I use the 2f in my pistols, and would like to use the 3f in the .54, as I do in my .50. I'm new to the .54, and would like thoughts on a good prb hunting load. Do you think 80grs is pushing it?

    Anyone tried these?

    Green Mountain Nipple?

Anyone know what brand GM was using, or was it something made in-house? Reason I ask is, I picked up one of their barrels a while back, and it shoots Rem #10 caps just fine. I should be getting a re-bored barrel back from Bob Hoyt in a week or so, and since I have a ton of #10s, the one from...

    GPR- Swapping barrels

I'm thinking about picking up a .54 barrel for my current .50 FL, not as a replacement, but to have something with a bit more punch available when needed. Do any of you swap barrels out very often, and if so, have you noticed any accuracy problems after doing so? I'd like to have a situation...

Anyone read this? The reviews look pretty good. Link Link

    Lube/Applicator

Northeast Trade Company used to sell an applicator for conicals, but I don't see it on their site anymore. Anyone know of a similar product? Also, what factory production lube would you suggest? It'll be for a .50, if that makes any difference.

Green Mountain T/C Hawken barrels- What's the verdict?

I'm thinking about replacing the factory pipe, so, are these a step up? It'll be the 1-70" patched ball model.

Talk me into a .54 GPR

I've got a GPR in .50 that I'm really pleased with, but I'm thinking about picking up a .54 as well. Its for targets, deer, and hogs- and heck, who knows, maybe an elk hunt one day. Now, what I need is for you gentlemen to give me lots of reasons (ahem, excuses) for adding a new caliber to the...

    T/C Hawken and Conical Bullets

I had an earlier thread that was tangentially on this issue in the Hunting section, but its taken a on a life of its own, and I'd like to ask a more focused question. Mine is a .50, though caliber might not be terribly relevant here (in that, what works, works): For those of you shooting...

Conical vs. round ball for whitetails

Aside from penetration, and assuming a rifle shoots both equally well, what are the benefits of using a .50cal conical as opposed to a patched round ball?

Just broke the top jaw screw

I just broke the top jaw screw on my GPR. Does anyone besides Lyman sell replacements?

    T/C Hawken rear sight problem

The rear sight on my Hawken has developed a little side to side play on the portion holding the elevation screw (therefore the blade as well). Not the part actually attached to the barrel. Its not a lot of play, but suddenly my groups opened up, even at short range. For instance, off the...

    RE Davis Deerslayer and GPR

The Deerslayer was suggested multiple times in a thread I started when I was buying a Lyman GPR flintlock. After shooting it some, I've decided the creep in the factory trigger bugs me enough to justify a change. It just seems to take forever to break the shot, and I'm pretty sure its beginning...

Does this seem a little slow?

I took my chronograph out today and see how fast my new GPR was throwing round balls, and at 70grs 3F of Goex, it was only 1460fps (measured at about 30ft). Does that seem a little slow? My rifle loves this load, but I'm not sure I feel its enough for a whitetail at 100yds. The manual lists...

    JB/Iosso paste removal

Those of you that use it in closed breech rifles, how do you get it out? I've used JB in centerfire guns with good effect, and just ordered some Iosso paste. With those, obviously, you just push it out the other end with a patch. Will a patch and jag pull it out of a front-stuffer? Is it...
