Are cap rakes really necessary or a solution in search of any real problem ?

I am privy to owning one of Mike's guns with both the cap rake and action shield, as well as a few with just the rake. I've had nary a smidge of trouble with any of them. I'm sold.

    Confederate Revolvers

The major issue with with the topic is it always seems to end up in a barroom brawl that gets many a good thread shut down, and many a good member given the old heave-ho. Just sayin'.

    Confederate Revolvers

News flash...the war between the states ended nearly 160 years ago. Why are we even discussing it?

Pyrodex RS (FF equivalent) in a revolver

Yes, I have used RS in a .44 cal revolver when I ran out of P at the range... A little felt recoil loss, no difference noted on paper at 25 yards. There was no chrono available so it may have been all in my head.

    Cutting large chunks of lead

No, it won't, unless you exceed 900F, at which point your castings will have a hammered, frosty appearance.

    Cutting large chunks of lead

Best to use something to cleave like a cold chisel, axe or hatchet that won't created dust. Be safe.

    Revolver grease packing

I started following Mike's lead after getting my 3 Goon guns back packed full of Mobil 1. It works just as he says.
