    Smoothbore pistol

Got a couple of folks on another forum that think it may be a khyber pass tourist gun. Any way to confirm that assessment?

    Smoothbore pistol

I have next to no info on this one. Friend of mine picked it up for 30 bucks or so. Personally I think it looks a tiny bit eastern but what do I know :idunno: No markings that I could see, although I didnt remove the barrel.

    Lightening trigger weight

It suddenly occurred to me that I should probably avoid filing any of the internals since they are probably only surface hardened. So back to fiddling with screws and checking for wood rub.

    Lightening trigger weight

Yep, false alarm. Removed the barrel and everything is just fine. As for the trigger pull so far it seems like it might be the sear spring. The bar engaged fine with the trigger (although it seems like the bar just barely reaches the metal trigger plat). I'm fiddling with the screw on the...

    Lightening trigger weight

Also the breech is threaded, so I cant imagine how it'd force out unless if it was stripping the threads or something?

    Lightening trigger weight

I assume that if the breech plug were trying to blow out that the area that the arrow on the right is pointing to would widen, correct?

    Lightening trigger weight

I was in the process of taking out the lock when I noticed something that concerned me. I've fired this gun numerous times without issue and never with more than 60 grains ffg. However I noticed this (pics linked because they're huge)...

    Lightening trigger weight

Lots of good info. I'll see about getting a good shot of the lock. Heck if I can get some good lighting maybe I can take a short video.

    Lightening trigger weight

The trigger on my smoothbore baker feels like it needs about 100lbs of pressure before it'll work. As a result its a bit hard to aim. I understand that its possible to lighten up the trigger but that it can be delicate work. Something about sanding the engagement surfaces a bit. Does anybody...

    Ramrod fits too tight

Many thanks for all the help and advice. Between the emery cloth and a little DW-40 in the channel it can now be removed by hand.

    Ramrod fits too tight

Yep, I had that same thought since thats the case with my pistol. Doesnt look like thats the problem though. Both screws are whole and when I seat the ramrod with the screws out it doesnt look like it comes near the hole.

    Ramrod fits too tight

Sorry, its a smoothbore baker. I think I'll try the emery cloth idea and give that a go before I start trying to hollow out the channel more. Thanks for the advice.

    Ramrod fits too tight

I wonder if anybody has any suggestions. The metal ramrod I have fits way too tightly under the barrel. If I seat it all the way so that the end of the ramrod does not go beyond the muzzle I often cannot remove it again by hand. I figure the only two options are to try to slim the ramrod or...
