    TC Hawken stock re-finish

As Eric mentioned, there is a lot of extra wood on these rifles that can be removed to make them slimmer and more slender in their appearance. The forearm , wrist and cheek/comb can be reduced quite a bit. Removing wood along the top of the forearm so it tapers into the barrel instead of the...

    Brand ID on Hawken style

Forgot to add that the date code looks like XXX which means it was mfg. in 1974.

    Brand ID on Hawken style

Looks like Palmetto arms. Their mark was a palm tree in a circle. This style of rifle was more commonly made by Investarms (capitol I in a square box). Newer ones of similar style are now made by Pedersoli.

    TC Hawken reworked

I refinished one of these a few years back. One of the main changes I made was to get rid of the stock trigger guard. (I don't like the extra finger hook) I wanted to stay with the brass furniture so I found one I liked from Track of the wolf. I had to drill the holes for the mounting screws and...

    Trends in Muzzleloading, a shift?

My cap locks outnumber my rock locks .......... barely. Shooting for accuracy I use the caplocks. For fun the flinters.

I made a range box lets see some more.

I think that our range boxes are like women purses, they go from little clutches that hold just enough supplies for a short round of shooting to a cargo bag that holds a years supply of everything that could possibly be needed. I have seen guys haul a box out that was on wheels and I 've seen...

Your best deal acquiring a muzzleloader, either trade or purchase

Not too long after I retired, the wife and I usually hit up a few garage sales mainly for entertainment rather than actually needing anything. I stumbled across an Armi San Paolo 1861 Enfield Musketoon for the princely sum of $75.00 Still have it and won't part with it. A couple for years ago...

    Advice/Suggestions 1861 Enfield clone

Like others, I would probably live with it. If you really don't like it, you could always take it out and replace it with a wood plug that closely matches the grain and stained to match the existing stock. I did this on a rifle to remove brass hearts that I didn't like.

    Refurbishing T/C Hawken Stock

I've changed the shape of a few rifles and like Eric, I prefer a well defined edge on the side plates. This one is on a CVA mountain rifle. This one is a finished TC Hawken I didn't change it a lot but made it slightly smaller to get the edges I wanted.

    Traditions flitlocks

I have a Traditions Pennsylvania that I refinished and it required a little cleanup and polishing on the lock but it sparks pretty reliably and as long as I keep the breech area clean, it is a dependable shooter. The style of breech on this rifle can clog up after six or seven shots and I will...

    Do you recognize this kit?

x2 what Zonie said. I have a 1988 Dixie catalog that shows the overcoat pistol. Appears to be almost an exact match.
